I am in the same boat.  Best advice I got this week from some post op-ers....Don't forget to check your measurements.
My scale hasn't moved in weeks.  I am trying to do everything they say, water, protien, healthy snacks, exercize.  It was excrutiating to feel like I was jumping through all of those hoops just to step on the scale to find NO reward.
The professionals told me that 3-5 weeks post op expect a scale stall- good to know.  (Better to know you know... 2 weeks and a thousand tears ago)
They also said when the scale isn't moving, the measuring tape is.  When the scale does move, the measuring tape stops...as if most bodies can't do both at the same time?  Sure enough...scale hasn't moved in 2 weeks, I have lost INCHES over my entire body and my size 26 jeans are falling off.

I had RNY on 12-9. I haven't lost any hair. I was super nervous about it. I have really made sure that I get my protein in - and then some. I'm averaging about 70-90g of protein a day. It's not always that easy but I am trying. I have thin hair to start with and I didn't really want to lose it!

** update 4/17/11

I have started losing a little hair. I get all my protein in. I use syntrax nectar but I put a lot of water in it so it is like juice and I also use a crystal light. For example I use the iced tea one with 50 oz of water and a pack of crystal light lemonade. I have been taking biotin and I bought some thickening shampoo. We will see...

For about 2 weeks now my tailbone has been killing me when I sit down.

I looked it up online and.. after losing so much weight, we lose the padding around our tailbone. Sometimes I think I'm gonna lose my whole butt after I get up out of a chair.

I read that the best thing for it is a blow up donut ring found at most pharmacy's to sit on.

I have heard that some people have had cortizone shots put in their tailbone to stop the pain and others have said that eventually the pain will go away..

Is anyone else having problems with pain in their tailbone?

My RNY surgery was 12-21-10 and I have the same problem with the protein shakes, protein drinks etc. I got some unflavored protein powder and was adding it to my chicken broth but.. the thought of it now makes me sick at my stomach. I think I am going to get some frozen fruits and some light yogurt and make some fruit smoothies to get my protein down. I think I'm lucky to get 15 grams of protein a day. My water intake has increased a lot though.. Seems like I am always thirsty now. I'm still waiting for my taste buds to come back because everything I put in my mouth is bland and tasteless.

I have really think hair also and... I have noticed when I take my baths, there is A LOT of hair floating in the tub so, I have already started loosing hair. I know I have to do something to get that protein down. Sometimes I feel like I am on fear factor and having to drink something nasty when I drink the protein now.

Thanks for your post
Kathy

I am with you having thin fine hair myself.  The thought of not having hair or a bald patch this summer is not something I am looking forward to.  I was told that it is temporary and that your hair will grow back......eventually.
I use Greens Protein Plus Vanilla protein powder.  It is really good.  I use 1 scoop powder, 3/4 frozen fruit, 1 cup water, blend until smooth and you have a thick yummy shake.  I also put it in a cup that I can shake as it does settle before I can get it all down.
Might help.  I also think Greens does small containers, not just the huge big expensive ones.  I used it before surgery for breakfasts as I hate milk and this is made with water.
Fingers crossed we are one of the few that don't lose any or any noticible amounts.

In the support groups I attended pre-op, most people said the hair loss did not come until 4-5 months after surgery. Most would say just make sure to take all the vitamins you're supposed to, get your water in...etc...

I had a sleeve on 12/22, and I hated every minute of the protein shakes during the first 3 weeks of liquids only. Now, I will drink them, but only if I think I have to. My favorite is EAS AdvanEdge - Dark Chocolate.

I am also nervous about hair loss! I have very thin hair to begin with, so it's a worry for me.

I had RNY on 12-6-10. I am getting really nervous with the idea of hair loss. My Dr said to take Biotin which I started a couple weeks ago. I have a really hard time with protein shakes I have tried so many and wasted so much money on them. I am just curious what other people so for hair loss? I was told to us special shampoo too.
