December 15th Surgery Date
SO EXCITED ABOUT MY SURGERY DATE!!!
It's been over 1 1/2 years in the process-- from 6 mos supervised diet to 18 weeks nutrition classes to insurance approval. I almost gave up about 5 months ago and paid out of pocket, because i was initially denied, had to gain weight, then appealed and got approval. Guess I'm glad now I stuck it thru and now finally...15 days countdown.
What a great Christmas gift!
The only thing is, I don't want my recovery to ruin Christmas for my kids (ages 8 & 10). They want to go out and do lots of Christmas shopping, meet Santa, eat out, etc.
Anybody else anxious about their surgery/recovery coinciding with Christmas???
Jackie

Hi,
I know exactly what you mean about 'freaked out', I am all the time too. I have second guessed my self so many times. I am afraid of the side effects & future complications & failures that I have read about in the forums. But you know what? Someone told me, for every failure, there is 10 successes, you just don't read about the successes as much bcuz they are out living their merry life, enjoying their success. Also, even with the worst outcome, there is always a solution. So don't worry about that unless you have to. For now we have to focus on life as being happy & successful...self-fullfilling prophecy theory. I am glad you shared ur fears with me, it keeps my fears in check. Good luck on Thurs the 16th, & I'll try to remember to post about my surgical experience, hopefully you can read it & use it for reassurance.

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement. Like you I second guess myself and worry so much, but today I ran across a photo of myself with my boys several years ago and my granddaughter was so shocked that I use to be a normal size. I want to be that person again. Good Luck on the 15th and I look forward to both of us posting photos in 6 months with lots of weight gone.....
Hi ladies,
Can i join the group too? I am set for dec 15th. got all my pre op stuff done, and now just have to wait the 9 more days. i cant wait to start my new life.
i am worried about how it will effect my family and if i will be one of the horror cases we all see and read about and all the bad side effects.
but i keep telling my self it is so much better to deal with hair loss than all this extra weight.
Best wishes of speedy recovery to us all, can't wait to start this new life

I am having surgery the same day as you and I have a 17, 16, and 3 year old! I started my shopping several weeks ago and will do all the wrapping and hiding this weekend. I have a list for my hubby of odd's and end's. Purchased a lot of bags for those last minute deals. I am going to take it easy and do what I can but not stress out if I can't do it all. It'll be ok! BTW, it has taken me 4 years to get to this point
The kid's will be ok. Just give them lot's of luv and hugs. Good luck!
Kelly,
You are good! Finishing up all your Christmas shopping early was smart.
I haven't told my children what surgery I am having, just that I am having surgery. From all the threads I've read, I'm hoping to be well and active by the 25th for my kids' sake.
4 years...WOW!! What was the hold up for you?
Are you doing a pre-op diet?
