Hi:

My surgery is scheduled for Dec. 8th which is 1 week from tomorrow.

I have been on a pre-op diet of protein shakes for breakfast, no sugar, caffeine or alcohol and high protein low fat foods for lunch & dinner.

Any advice or recommendations on what to bring to the hospital?

I am in preparation mode - getting babysitters on a schedule, stocking up on my post op liquids.

Hi Kerry!  Thanks for your well wishes - I had my surgeon visit today, and my blood work tomorrow.  Now to finish all these lists of things to do before surgery!
I checked out the forums, and found lots of advice on what to bring ( and not to bring) to the hospital.  The most required items were :  robe, slippers, book, chapstick, and shampoo. I'm planning on wearing home what I wear in - loose sweats!  Also, I'm packing a pillow in the car to use on the way home over my incision in case I cough!  This week will fly by - then on to the rest of my (hopefully prolonged) life!  Good luck!         Faye

Kerry I ordered that Oasis Mouth Spray from drugstore.com I had seen it mentioned somehwere here and couldn't find it at Kmart, I didn't look anywhere else. I heard tis nice to have after surgery when your mouth is super dry and you can't have anything.

Which protein shakes are you using. I have the Bariatric Advantage and Unjury. I like the unjury better is less thick. I dont' like that gooey thick consistency and I thought the BA was too sweet. I do Love their control bars, my kids keep eating the darn things.

Be humble or you will stumble.

Stacie:

I've been using Spirutein  - it has 14 grams of protein, 0 fat and i think 6 grams of sugar in it.  I mix it with water or rice milk.

I've been told not to stock up on too much stuff since my taste buds my change.

I would like to try Unjury because I've heard alot of good things about it.

I was also told to get a "bullet" drink mixer from a friend of mine - they are available anywhere (walmart).

The mouth spray is a great idea - thank you!
