Topic: RE: Saying Hello Surgery date is Friday the 19th
Welcome, we are having surgery the same day! I am feeling the same way excited and nervous, I jump between the two all the time. This forum is great, because we can chat with people who are going through the same things.
Meet the Surgeon Aug 1, 2011 .... hopefully the surgeons office is right and everything will go fast and I'll have surgery later this month.

Welcome to the board!
I am usually the "walmart door greeter" but have been shirking my duties of late. But better late than never!
Congrats on your upcoming surgery! Mine is about 30 hours away and if you read the post above this one you will see I am struggling with it.
You will find a great group of people on here and many
who are pre op as well as many post op. Everyone here is very warm and open to questions and will help you along the way.
I am adding you as a friend, please keep in touch!

Topic: Had my meltdown... 30.75 hours to go!
This has been quite a week.
Started out with someone on another board being an ass and me taking it way too personally and leaving the site for a bit. That is all better now..
I was scheduled to work Monday and come to NW Iowa on Tuesday, drive up to where my surgery is on Wednesday night for my surgery Thursday morning. Well Monday morning I woke up to a call from my mom telling me we have a winter storm headed our way on Tuesday and I better get up there Monday night.
Sooooo, I call work, tell them I will be in late and will only be working a few hours. Then I start throwing everything together, do last minute cleaning on my house, stop the mail and paper (I am gonna be recovering at my mom's house 250 miles from home for 3 weeks). I am running around crazy. Just as I THINK I am ready to head to work, everything is loaded.. my phone rings.. PCP office informs me they didn't do a pregnancy test and I have to come in before I leave. So after 3 minutes of arguing it would have to be an immaculate conception for me to be pregnant I agree to drive another 30 min out of my way to pee in a cup to prove what I already know. I finally arrive at work, finish up last minute details.
By the time I got to my mom's house last night I was frazzled to say the least. I think I cried half of the way here. We decided to go out and have a "last meal" together. I think Long John Silver's chicken planks sound SO good! WTF was I thinking!! At 4:30 this morning I find myself driving the porcelain school bus for about an hour. So much for my last meal, but at least I know I will never again be tempted by LJS again!
Spent the day watching it snow, then went outside and shoveled and played with my dog in the snow. I think we got 5" of real powdery pretty snow. Now I hear another storm is headed this way on Thursday but by then I will be safe and sound (I hope) in the hospital.
So now, here I sit in a quiet house. Mom went to bed a few hours ago. My dog is laying on the kitchen floor snoring and I am just a total bundle of emotions. Fear, excitement, anxiety, you name it.. I got it. So I decided to post this and give you all a laugh or cry or maybe even a giggle.
To all my 18th cohorts.. I wish you all the best, good vibes and a speedy recovery! I can't wait to sit with all of you on the loser's bench! Tom, I am gonna find you a purple gown for our summer get together!
Hugs to all! You are a great group of LOSERS!!

I'm having my surgery on the 22nd as well. I already know my doctor will be on call at the hospital over Christmas. Hospitals are open 24/7. They don't stop taking care of people just because it's Christmas or New Years or any other holiday.
I'm not getting any negative input from anyone in my family or from my co-workers.
Good Luck!
