Topic: RE: Having surgery on the 22nd...A tad freaked out!
So, how are you holding up?
I live in the greater Chicago area and we keep having weather issues. I am hoping that tomorrow we will have a successful Christmas celebration with my family (my mom is freaking out with the ice and snow we had overnight last night). And, I hope it doesn't snow when I have to go to the hospital or while I am there.
Only a few more days! How exciting!
Good Luck Monday to all of us!

My understanding is that surgeries, especially bariatric, are quite common around Christmas time. This is because of insurances, co-pays, and some people have down-time around Christmas (like school district employees).
However, someone having surgery on Monday could be home by Christmas.
Wishing all of us a good Monday!

I know you don't have long to go. We are both having surgery the same day. You want to make sure you stick to your doctors directions for sure. I heard of patients that were opened up, then closed back up, as they were too fatty inside and it was too risky to do surgery on them.
I have terrible veins also. I have to drink a lot of water to have them be able to get blood from me. With the surgery, they do the IV in a vein in the hand. Usually those veins are a lot easier to get at.
Good Luck Monday and be good the next couple of days.

hello,
I got home around 9 pm, I can't sleep. I am not feeling that great. Surgery went well and doctors and nurses think that I am doing wonderful. I guess it is going to take a lot of rest. Talk to ya soon, hope you are doing well.
hugs,
Brenda

So today was my pre-opt day. I woke up and had to take my last final for this semster. It didnt start on time so that put me off track. Then I went to my place to get my clothes that needed washing and got on the road to come to houston. Well my mom had told me not eat anything (drink I should say) before i came there besides water. So that ment I was really sleepy but I made it to her job where I parked and she drove. We were 20 mins late to the dr. appointment, but they were behind anyways. Well they handed me my paper work and said to go to university and what to do on monday. Well she had also called me to tell me to be at the hospital at 600 am. b/c i am the first surgery of the day. i was second now im first. That means I have to wake up at 430 and be ready to leave by 5 to get there on time. good thing they put me to sleep b/c i will be realy sleepy if i sleep at all that night. We got to university filled out lots of papers and went upstairs. I had to pea in a cup and then get an ekg and then they had to draw blood. This is were things go wrong. I am a very hard person to stick. My vains are small and my body dose not like to give up my blood. It took 2 nurses or blood techs and 4 sticks l8ter to get these tubes filled. plus they blew one of my vains. now what am i supposed to do on surgery when they have to do an iv thats going to be a trip. then after that i vwent and picked up my car from moms job brought it home and we went and got our hair done. Mine needed it after seeing the pick they took. MY hair is almost to my shoulders now man its getting long. Then I was starving b/c b4 we went to get our hair done I tried to get a smothie from smoothie king. my mom told me to get the lo carb protein shake. bad idia b/c it was nastey i wasnt feeling at all so that was a waste of 5 dollors. Like ive said beeing on these liquids is hard so mom wanted mexican so we went to a mexican resturant i had soup and some quesdias. It was good but now im nausus b/c of the amout of grease in the quesadias. should have just stuck to the soup b/c it was great. mom had soup as well. So now im sick and its all b/c i was bad, but tomrrows a better day and i will do better on protein shakes and water. Have a blessed day.
