Topic: IM HOME
Well i got relased this morning from the hospital. been sleep most of the day just trying to pass some gas. I finaly passed some gas and am feeling much better. But I am still in some pain so i just took some pain med and going to sleep soon. I even got in some protein shake and some water so everday is a new step into my new life. Merry christmas to all and thanks for everyones kind words while i was in the hospitale.

Love being able to say "I told ya so!"
The gas started almost immediately for me and continued from Thur-Mon when I finally pooped!!
That really was the point I started feeling much better!
Take it easy, relax and yeh sip sip sip. I'm doing ok with the water but failing bad at the protein. I am now in lust with Jello SF butterscotch pudding though.
Hang in, stay in touch and Merry Christmas! I saved ya a spot on the loser's bench right next to me.. have a seat sweetie!

Wow! They only kept you one day past your surgery? Yikes! My doctor keeps lap-band patients one day and all RNY a minimum of two day past their surgery! No wonder you feel like you've been kicked!
I'm pretty sore myself, I was also RNY on the 22nd. Mostly, though, I feel okay. I discovered that I am NOT ready for anything other than broth or SF cocoa though. Tried some protein enriched cream of chicken mix tonight and my tummy did not like that at all! Gave me gas pains that hurt up into my shoulders. It was miserable!
I"m trying to remember to keep up on my sipping but I"m having a tough time of it. My tummy likes to cuss me out when I pu****er in but that's all I really want right now. Especially since the reaction is worse with protein.
I'm glad you're home. I'm sure that each day you'll feel just slightly better. Now we can begin our journey to truly making our lives the best they can be!!

Topic: Well, I made it home!!
I had my RNY on the 22nd and was released today. My kids and I are staying with my folks while I recover. I've heard a lot of talk about gas... when does this start?? I've had some and at it's worst it is a horrible pain up under my shoulder blades. Mostly, though, I have bad pain at the incision site. A small price to pay for a whole new future!
I still worry about what recovery will bring for me and boy was it hard to not be able to eat a single one of our family tradition foods tonight... but, mom already said she'd make more later when I might be able to better tolerate them. In the meantime. I'm having a hard time remembering to sip, sip, sip.. though I've got the walking part down!
I want to say thank you to ALL of you who helped me through the pre-surgery jitters. I imagine we'll have many great recovery stories (and hopefully some phenomenal recipes) to share as time goes on!!
You all are TRULY the BEST!!

Thanks...I was just finishing a journal entry. I've never really done a diary/journal before, and I'm not planning on writing in it every day, but thought it was a good idea to have another outlet for 'the journey'.

I completely agree with you, but the leak was not discovered, as I previously posted, until 7 days Post-op. My surgeons (I had a team of 2) said they saw nothing during the op and nothing in the 2 days post op that I was in the hospital. Plus, they had a team of puppies following them. All those eyes didn't see anything wrong and pronounced my case "textbook".
What can you do? It's not enough for a lawsuit really, yet it's unlucky for me. But when I read others' accounts about emergency surgery and organ failure, I consider myself pretty lucky after all. I just wi**** didn't still hurt. I guess I'll appreciate the tube out all the more in time.
