Jemma, when I came home I had gained weight about 5lbs from the gas... I am sure that all the weight I am losing is because I can barely get anything in me. We went out to eat yesterday and i got a cup of soup... and ate about 4 little spoonfulls of it and was done. I swear the waiter thought I was nuts.

Only once was I able to eat a substantial amout of anything, 6oz of lite yogurt. I was so suprised.

But with the weight loss everyone loses differently. And I think 8 lbs is good, thats 8lbs you won't ever see again.

Meet the Surgeon Aug 1, 2011 .... hopefully the surgeons office is right and everything will go fast and I'll have surgery later this month.

Tom, I am jealous... Your driving. I want to drive but they told me no driving yet. Of course I am still taking pain meds.

Sorry to hear you haven't lost anything. You will...

I just have to ask this.  How areyou people losing that much weight?  I mean, I came home from the hospital weighing 12 pounds more than my pre surgery weight!  It took me a week to lose that weight and since then I have lost an additional 5.  So in 12 days I have lost 20 but when I go into the surgeons office it will only read 8 pounds lost b/c of the weight I gained during surgery.

Am I just a freak of nature?  Why did i gain so much in the hospital?

2 chewable multi vitamins
Tums

My surgeon reccomends tums but I know they aren't the best thing for us so I am ordering some calcium citrate.  plus I just can't chew the tums....they make me gag.

Congradulations,
By now you have made it through your surgery and now the task begins.  Remember to walk as much as you can, take your vitamins, and get you protein in everyday,  Movement and food choices are the key to the WLS.  I'm 2mo and a few weeks post op, and I have gone fro 315 to 261 as of 12/26/08. Go to support group and get some positive surgical friends to encourage you when things are tough.  One of y support friends works with me and helps where mmy friends and family won't understsnd what i' m going through everyday.  God bless You, be encouraged, and one again Condradulation.

Yours truly,

I was sent home from my surgery with instructions for:
1 chewable vitamin a day
1 baby aspirin
1 prilosec 2 times a day
Liquid Tylenol w/codeine as needed per pain
I was told not to start my calcium citrate until after my post op which isn't until 01/03

I am 1 week and 1 day out, 16 lbs down but yes, hungry ALL the time. I have been told it is because my internal incisions and nerve endings haven't healed yet. DAMN I hope they heal soon before I dig into the pile of fudge and peanut butter fudge sitting on the counter about 3 feet from me!!
Have you all discovered Jello SF pudding AND Cool Whip SF topping mixed together?? yummmmmmmm!

Maybe this is a dumb question, but what is the difference between pureed and soft foods?  I am on a 3 week clear liquid diet and then not sure what comes next.

Hey Tom,  I am still pretty hungry all the time too.  I know everyone says that they are just not hungry anymore.  But I am the complete opposite.  I feel hungry alot and actually sometimes wake up at night to my stomach's growling hunger pains.  I know some of what I am feeling is "head hunger", but not all the time.    So what kind of things are you eating?  Are you strictly on liquids right now?
