Topic: RE: 1 week postop...
Most of the weight gained in a hospital is from IV fluid. I know I was getting a 1000cl every couple of hours, for 3 days straight that can add up to some lbs.
I was trying to get rid of it in the bathroom but It got tiring. phew.
I am doing a variety right now, Strained soup, pudding, blended soup and yougurt.
water and protein shakes.

Topic: RE: shoulder pain?
What everyone said is the same thing I was told. My shoulder hurt worse than any other part of the surgery (left shoulder). I walked and walked but I will say that it hurt for almost 2 weeks post op (I am a little over 3 weeks). Occassionally if I get a bad bout of gas it hurts again but for the most part it is finally gone.

Topic: RE: What stage are you in?
I had my surgery on 12/4. I did 2 weeks liquid before surgery and 10 days post op.
I am now on Pureed or soft food (my NUT explained that I didn't have to eat the consistency of babyfood but I should chop in a blender or chopper anything that may be too difficult to chew to a soft consistency) I still finely chop my chicken breasts. I am on this for 2 months and then go to the next stage whi*****ludes vegetables only. After 6 months I can include carbs and fruit (good carbs). Most difficult time for me is breakfast. I hate eggs. I can't seem to handle cottage cheese in any quantity more than a tablespoon and I tried yogurt (sugar free) and it didn't sit well. I still opt for a protein drink most days.

You are not alone... I also have horrible bloating and gas which was just lovely. It does get better over time!
I was just glad that DH was at work when I was breakin' wind big time... boy did it feel good!

We are soooo glad to hear from you! Welcome home, and take it easy. It's very tiring the first week out...
I also had bleeding issues and they kept me in the hospital for two extra days. Sounds like you've been through the wringer... stay positive and do all they say! Also, you want to make sure you get your sodium in (broth, strained soup, etc.) My doc swears that it is necessary for us bleeders to clean up the bruising. My stomach is one horrible patchwork of shades of purple, and I'll bet you're in the same boat!
Take care and thanks for letting us know you're home safe!
