I'm in the same boat! I had RNY on 12/17...and although I didn't gain any after the surgery, I've only lost 6 lbs! It seems like everyone else is losing like 20-25 lbs the first couple of weeks out! I thought it was supposed to be falling off like crazy! The week before my surgery, I was on a liquid diet and lost 11 lbs -- then AFTER RNY, I only lose 6! What's wrong with this picture??
Topic: RE: Finally!! Feeling the restriction I am supposed to feel!
Were you not feeling the restriction earlier? The reason I ask is that I had RNY on 12/17 and compared to everyone else, it seems like I can eat too much. I can eat a whole cup of oatmeal in the morning....a whole can of soup, etc. I'm worried that it's not working for me! Leave it to me to be the one person who doesn't lose weight after gastric bypass! I've only lost 6 lbs, too!

I'm today too, and I am up instead of sleeping, scared that I am making the BIGGEST mistake ever.
Topic: Finally!! Feeling the restriction I am supposed to feel!
Had some chicken broth for dinner tonight, and actually felt completely full after about 10 spoonfuls.
Tonight I was taking my meds, followed by water.. again I felt the restriction!!
Happy to feel it finally!! Was beginning to think my surgery failed. NOPE, it is working!

Topic: RE: Anyone else having surgery New Year's Eve??
Am almost done with it.....well, for now. I will still be on it after surgery for a couple of weeks, but I will have the tool that will help me, then. Are you on the liquid diet, yet? Good Luck with your surgery!!!

I gained about 10 pounds at the hospital. I have lost that and a little bit more. Today was the first day I got enough protein in. I was happy with 2 oz of protein drink, but today I increased it to 4 oz of protein drink. Not hungry at all. I think the diarrhea finally stopped too.
I still don't like the heparin shots I have to give myself 3x's a day. I tried to go 24 hours between pain meds and woke up in terrible pain (in my knees) at 3:30am. It was time to take the meds!
I still haven't seen my doctor for a follow-up. Hopefully this week sometime.

I am having the band surgery on 12/30 as well. I am both excited and very nervous today. I cant wait, but a little nervous about having surgery. I know this is the best thing I can do for myself and so happy to finally be on the home stretch!!! Good luck to all and will be back to get an update on your progress.

Topic: RE: What stage are you in?
I was on clear liquids for two days (while I was in the hospital) and then two days of full liquids. Now I am on Puree's for about two more weeks. I go to the doctor for my first visit tomorrow so I might get changes to my diet then.
Topic: RE: Lower Left Abdominal Pain. Anyone else? Info?
Hi Ellen and all,
I am 10 days out from my RNY/lap I still have some pain once in awhile on the left side. Mine seem more like a pulling inside. The pain will subside and you will feel better soon. I started walking the day I came home and I think that helped. First day to the house next door, then each day added a house or two then to the end of the block and today I walked 1 mile, 1/2 mile in the morning and 1/2 mile in the evening. This helps with the gas also.
I do agree about the liquid diet though, it is getting boring. Hang in there though, I am really trying.
Best of luck to you and everyone that reads this!
