Thanks Guys. I could not have done it without you.   You are my inspiration

I was cleared to go back to the gym the day I was discharged. Just couldn't  find a ride after I got out.  then Christmas and then the gf and them my kids, you know the pix. I finally said i am going to the gym.

went to today and topped my record,  I don't think I will be doing this for awhile but I made 6.0 mph on the treadmill for about 30 seconds. I had to try 5 mph, then worked my way up to 6.

I am so sore. Like I said don't think I will be trying that for a while.

Good Luck to everybody.

Topic: RE: 1 week postop...
Had my first post op appt today and lost 16.8 lbs!!!  Funny thing is I don't feel like I lost anything.  In fact, before getting on the scale, I commented that I thought it was going to show a GAIN!!!  I'm still feeling quite bloated (they explained still a lot of air in there).  My clothes don't seem to be much bigger yet either and there's still a bit of sharp pain on my left side - probably still gas that's waiting its turn to break up and release.

I've also graduated from a full liquid to a pureed diet.  I think I'll be going on to a soft diet next week (or at least more foods will be added to puree such as hard cheese and potatoes).  One day at a time is all I can handle right now anyway.  I enjoyed my scrambled egg (this was wild - it took 15 mins for me to eat one egg, whereas before I would have wolfed down 3 or 4 eggs in 5 minutes!) and am looking forward to a bean dish tonight.  Of course, only 1/4 to 1/2 cup, but still tastes better than plain broth!

Hi Roacharama --

I asked you what kind of surgery you had in a different post, which I read before this one.

It does seem unusual that you can eat so much and not feel full.  I'm only 1 week out and started my pureed phase today, but even after sipping a few oz. I feel full.  I was able to eat 2 oz of cream of rice cereal on the full liquid phase and felt satisfied.  Fullness is signaled for me by feeling bloated and on the way to being like I made my 5th trip to the buffet line!  I'm getting that after just a few sips of liquid, whether its water or protein shake.

I strongly recommend you speak to your doctor asap about your concerns!

Roacharama -- what type of surgery did you have?  Was it a lap band?  If so, I've read that its very likely you won't have restriction until its inflated to the right amount.

Topic: RE: Guess what NY resolution I'm NOT making this year?!?!

This year, I know that as long as I keep up my commitment to healthy food and exercise that the weight will take care of itself.  I feel like a huge cloud has lifted..

I didn't see the commercial, but I totally agree with this attitude.  Our new tool will hopefully remind us when we're eating too much of that healthy food, so between good choices and smaller portions, we'll all be healthy and svelte!

Consider yourself very lucky!!  LOL  My fingers actually ache they get so cold.   Yet, when I hold one of my children's hands, they are quite warm.  I've taken to sneaking up on them and jamming my hands down their backs !!  I find it hysterical.  Them, not so much.  lol

I'm thinking it'll start to warm up in Ohio... hmmm.. probably like JULY!  lol  Nah, usually by mid-May it isn't too bad.  The thing is I have the heat set high so it's warm in the house.  I'm just freezing.  Go figure!  I'll have to be sure to share that with the skinny secretary at our school who I'm always teasing.  I tell her she's only cold because she has no fat on her bones!  lol  :-)

Keep on stayin' warm!   I'll try to do the same.

I understand that what one nutritionist says may differ from another.  But the differences cannot be too drastic.  I researched other sites and what advice I had received lines up pretty well with the others.  Anyway, it makes sense to me.  When you eat slowly, it gives your body time to send a message to your brain that you are full.  And yes, sip, sip, sip your liquids so you don't dehydrate.  Most of all, check with your doctor and nutritionist.  They are there to help you.  They want to see you succeed.  Don't think you are bothering them.  I'm sure they want to hear from you during your struggles.
