Topic: RE: Any advice when you overeat?
I feel MUCH better. My doctor and nutrionist both said that if I move to a stage and find it's too much that I should step back to the previous stage for a day or two. So.. t hat's what I'm going to do. I'll be watching for any changes in pain, fever, heart rate, etc. but I think I just overdid it on a lot of levels. (Too much, too fast, too rich, etc.) Thank you though and I promise to call the doctor if I notice ANY worrisome symptoms!
Congrats, by the way, on the amazing weight loss thus far. Is that all since your surgery on the 22nd?? I'm down about 8 lbs since the surgery on the 22nd. Keep up the great work! That rocks!

The most important thing you should do is CALL YOUR DOCTOR. Only he/she can give you the best advice and care.
There's lots of good, but very varying advice here on the boards which I think is wonderful. But none of us are professionals and can only speak from our own personal experiences which are as varied as the number of members. Your doctor can tell you whether its normal or something to worry about and can advise how to proceed.
In fact, after you read this message, please go and call his office and leave a message for him to call you first thing in the morning! ok?

Sorry I didn't see your post in time... you are probably post-op now, but I am still sending good vibes and wishes to you!

Thank you so much for you support and advice. Unfortunately, I ended up having an unplanned vomit fest about 30 minutes ago. I do feel slight better but it was not fun. Now, in the back of my head I'm scared I ruptured the staple line. Because how would one know?? Everything I find says that it's a slow onset. Fun times. I'm sure I'll be up all night worrying about that.
In any case... I think it's starting to pass. I'm going to take your doctor's advice and step back to more clear liquids again even though my doc gave the go ahead for full liquids on day 3.
Thanks!
Julie

That could be it as well. Before surgery, my doc explained that our new stomachs were like a newborn infant. At first it can only consume liquids (mothers milk or formula). Later, when its ready to be weaned, it's done so very slowly -- first with liquidy foods, then purees, then soft, then normal. And new foods are introduced slowly as well. He said I should think of my stomach like that of a newborn because it IS a brand new stomach, like a baby's.
I suggest you take little sips of plain water and try to get as much rest as possible.
Prayers to feeling better!

I'm actually wondering if part of it is my tummy wasn't ready for something that rich. Now I'm worried about my staple line. Scary. I don't know what to do. I'm feeling a little less blah. Just very tired now. It sucks. I'm definitely sucking it up as a learning experience.

None to offer, sorry; except use it as a learning experience. Remember the feeling for next time.
What are you using as a bowl? I use the 1/2 cup containers that the puddings or fruit come in and eat with a baby spoon/fork. I'm afraid my fullness comes from eating too quickly, but if you measure out what you're allowed in advance, you really shouldn't run the risk of overeating.
Feel better!!!

Oh sheez... it hit me when I stood up after eating "dinner", thinned out potato soup completely mashed. I'm scared to death I'm going to break a staple seal or something. I feel very, very uncomfortable. Had a couple of burps that resulted in a little vomit, but nothing of substance. I tried a walk. Didn't help. Any suggestions?

Topic: RE: Lower Left Abdominal Pain. Anyone else? Info?
I am SO GLAD I posted about my pain issue. Thank you so much from everyone that responded. I am starting to feel a bit better and the pain doesn't come quite as often. I had a 3 week follow-up and got a less restricted diet, so I think that will help me feel a bit more normal. I was on all soft foods, and no grains other than hot cereal. The new diet is more normal so we will see how it goes. Adding one food a day will take me a while. But it's a new way of life and I'm just glad to have found this group and made it through my surgery.
Let's just keep chugging!
Thanks Guys!
