I personally was never regretful but know others who were.....now that you have gotten that off your chest it is my opinion that you have to start seeing in your minds eye where you want to be. I was sore as well, but the only way through that is time and keep moving....get up and walk, even if it hurts, you have just had major surgery. A c-section is major as well but it is a different type of major and maybe there is some old scar tissue or something that is making this a bit more painful for you than some of the rest of us. Remember why you made your decision in the first place and as you start reaching those small milestones, you will soon forget about this stage; however if you keep feeling this way for a prolonged period or it gets worse, know that it is OK to seek treatment. I have a girlfriend that did go through a very major depression after her surgery and you do not want this feeling of regret to overwhelm you.

It will get better. My doctor gave me Nexium when I first had my surgery and I had to take it at least 30 min prior to eating or drinking anything for the day for my first month, which stopped my nausea. I could only eat and drink out of those small 1oz cups and everything had to be pureed for the first month and not have too much of a texture...everything I ate went in the blender. I had to eat and then about 30 min later try to drink but could not do both at the same time.  I do not recall being on the protein shakes prior to my 1st month out...I ate lots of blended meats with fat free gravy...hopefully this helps some.

Thank you my dear...I am from a very small town called Scotland Neck, which is about 30 miles from Rocky Mount, Talboro, Ahoskie, not too far from Emporia and Wilson...those are surrounding towns that you may have heard of if you are not familiar with my little (and I do mean little...LOL) neck of the woods

Everyone is always so positive and encouraging here, which is nice. But I have to admit I always don't feel like that.
I think in a couple more weeks maybe that will change, but I feel like I'm not sure being this sore is justified by what I have seen in myself so far.
I don't think my scale has moved in the past week. (RNY 12/22). I spent a week in bed with back pain, and I still can't sit very well.
If I had known how much pain I was going to think I wouldn't have done it. I don't think I have too low of a threshold either. Ceseareans, tattoos and piercings are ok, this sucked!
I was served the wrong menu at the hospital and so I think I can eat anything without pain. Soft things anyway. I have only felt full once. That one time was horrible, but it was just once.
A big part of doing this was so that I could enjoy better time with my 3 daughters, and I feel like I can't do anything much for them right now.
OK, I know this will all change, but needed to have a small pity party for myself to get through the present.I can't wait until I am happy, appreciative and grateful for this experience, but its not yet!
Am I the only one?

Hi Pam,
Congrats on your new start in the new year. I'm glad you made it through well. Being home os a good feeling. The first two weeks are still a struggle for me, but its good to know we are all here together.
As for swallowing pills, my nut told me it is impossible given the size of the new esophogus, so all crushed, liquid, and chewable for me .
Rest when you need to and sip when you aren't.
Take Care, Kristi

Hi Everyone!

I made it, had RNY on Monday, they kept me an extra night only because I live so far from the hospital.  I am grateful for that.
I feel pretty good all and all .. tired a little sore but I can't swollow the huge pills and the liquid...well I will work through it .. lol
Just happy to be on the losers bench, finally!
Thank you all for your support!!!!!

Hugs,
Pam

with water, protein and food intake.  Every morning I wake up nauseous, so it takes me a while to recover from that.  Then I usually have 1/2 of cup of hot tea which takes me about 30 minutes to get down. Then I am full.  I can only get in about 2-4 oz of liquids in in an hour's time frame.  And if I eat then I have to wait at least an hour before drinking anything or I'm so full I'm sick.
I usually average about 3-4 cups of water a day and that includes the 8 oz of protein shake I manage to choke down( but it makes me so full I want to puke).
I just fell like at 2 wks out I should be feeling better by now and at least meeting my water goals.  I manage about 1-2 meals a day, but noting taste, smells or looks good.
Do you guys have any tips to when things get better.
