Wow - I don't know if I've ever heard of a surgeon saying that to a patient at this stage in the game...eek!

However, I honestly would not worry too much at this point! As long as you are following your NUT's guidelines (if they seem to be sound, that is...some are not very fine tuned) and following your pouch rules, you will be fine!

Hang in there!

I had Open Duodenal Switch on 12/23/08 and am currently down 22 pounds!

Running WL Total: 22 pounds

I will be at one month tomorrow (RNY 12/9/08) and I have lost 22lbs.  My surgeon seemed fine with it.  I also tolerated soft foods right away. But he said it also has to do with how obese you were to begin with. I was not so bad - barely qualified for they surgery in fact.  So I will lose more slowly than someone who started out as morbidly obese.  That's what he said.
Just eat more of the fish and less potatoes :)

Hi, I had my surgeon appointment yesterday and he mentioned I had not lost enough weight.
I had surgery on Dec 4 and have now lost 21 lbs.  May be I started on soft foods too fast?  What calorie intake is everyone one on after 1 month and I seem to get different answers for the dietitian.  I have started eating soft fish and mashed potatoes can anyone help me?

I feel like I am stuck in a rut too.  I lost 24 pounds in the first two weeks and then nothing much since.

My biggest challenge is getting in enough liquids.  I really stink at that.

I have the opposite problem with eating.  I eat too slow.  I have started timing my meals and saying that whatever I didn't eat at the end of 30 minutes doesn't get eaten.  My food is always cold by the time I fini****

Not really a challenge like you guys are thinking about it though, is that i NEVER feel good or satisified/happy after eating.  I always feel like garbage, no matter what I eat.  Getting used to that is a challenge for me.

This is a lot like how I feel.  I am having a hard time getting liquids in and I always ate slow and when you put a slow eater together with small portions, you end up with a whole lot of nothing...

I am hoping as we move to higher stages, I can have more familiar foods and drinks and maybe that will help things.

Congratulations!  You are doing great.  I would check with your nutritionist or surgeon though.
As I read through here I see that there are so many variations.  I am eating 3 meals of 3 oz a day with 60 grams of protein.  I am sure I could eat more if I tried but I don't want to.  So check and ask them why.
