I'm having my husband make me a "mock stromboli" tonight. He is going to back the innards of a stromboli on a Pfaltzgraf plate for me (salami, pepperoni, ham, mozzarella, and a little sauce) and I'm going to just imagine the bread! I used to have him make "mock pizza" for me the same way. He would spread the sauce on an oven-safe plate and put cheese and toppings on and bake it. You could eat it with a fork and it really felt like the bread was there. You trick your mind with the other flavors. Good luck! I've been wondering if I could tolerate the crust too.

I had a small slice of pizza on Friday night, didn't eat the crust, but ate everything else, and it sat fine, no sickies, no bloated feeling, no yucky feeling at all.

South Beach Diet has a personal pizza (by all the frozen meals at the grocer) with 31 g of protein. I tried that for the first time yesterday, just ate 1/2.

I've been able to tolerate it. I try to eat only a slice or half a slice, and I try to eat the yummy toppings only. Chew chew chew! You can try a bite or two to see how it sits well.
I've found that if I indulged a craving - in moderation! - it really helps. I used to have pizza once a week. I find now that I may have a half a slice every two weeks or so and that's all I need.

I weighed 313 pounds on December 1, 2008 the day of my RNY surgery and have lost 81%
of my excess body weight to-date. Current as of November 1, 2009
OH Mini-Challenge Goal for New Year's Day is 170 pounds. 11 pounds to go!
Is it the dough you crave or the toppings? I make pizza at least once per week. I followed ideas from eggface. She has probably 20 ideas on her blog.
And like her, I use the Mission low carb whole wheat tortillas and put pizza toppings on top. My favorite is a white pizza like I used to get when I lived in NYC. But you can put anything on it. Ground meat, veggies, cheese. I can eat a half of a fajita size tortilla is it is loaded with stuff. I did a ricotta cheese and artichoke hearts one once and was able to eat 3/4 out of it. I usually use what ever left overs I have in my fridge.
Bake it in a hot oven for 10 minutes to get the tortilla crispy.
Give it a try. They are yummy!

Hey girlie..how r ya? hows it been going?...i dont wanna tellu to try this but i actually can stand half a slice or atleast the cheese and sauce..try that first just to get the taste in your mouth

So now I'm daydreaming. I know, I know - dough -bad. Fatty oily - Very bad. But one day. One shining day - I would love to have half a slice. So when's that day for a December surgery? Mother's Day? 4th of July? When I've lost 50lbs? When I have the rest of the day cleared so I can dump in the bathroom? Sigh.

I experimented as well to see what, if anything, would happen, but.... with CAKE! (mind you, only about a spoonful, but still...)
Warning: we are treading very dangerous waters here. Just because we can eat something without a bad result doesn't mean it's the best choice for us!
For me, the reason I chose WLS was a tool that would make me physically sick if ate things that were no good for me (as well as eating too much). I was actually a bit disappointed that I didn't feel sick! Just made it scary for me. I can't afford to fall into bad habits again!

Congratulations, that's exciting when the pounds start dropping again. And then there's getting under 250! Can't wait for that myself, I'm at 278.
