The carved chicken breast is a staple in my diet now.  I throw 2 oz in a pan with some green and red peppers and red onions, add in some Fat Free Zesty Italian salad dressing and heat it over high heat for a couple minutes.  Then I put it on a plate and put some Fat Free Shredded Cheddar Cheese on top!!  IT IS AWESOME!  The chicken is SO tender!!  YUMMY!

Topic: RE: Am I the only one eating Lean Cuisines, Healthy Choice, etc. for lunch at work everyday?
I haven't eaten those yet but I was looking at them. I had my surgery on the 22nd so I am just a bit behind y'all anyway. I usually just eat 2 slices of light (sodium and fat) lunch meat and a slice of 2% cheese. I will eat some manderine oranges no sugar added, for a snack. Somewhere in there and in the morning I drink a protein drink that has 42 gms of protein. Breakfast us usually a hardboiled egg with mustard and light mayo or a sm yogurt s/f. Dinner is up for grabs. I try to get protein/meat in but sometimes it is tuna fish or a meatball or italian (turkey)sausage in sauce. I actually had to start adding carbs. I was getting so little that they said that to lose weight my body would start pulling protein from the muscles if I didn't up it a bit. I added the cheese. At least that has protein too. I think I am doing exactly what my papers say to do but it is 6 weeks today and I am minus only 27 lbs. Plus the 20 I lost before surgery but that only counts in my head. I see the nut on Wednesday so I will talk with her then. I have lots of questions.

That is not a bad idea to reread the papers. I did that alrady and I seem to be sticking to the diet fairly well. Stage 3 where I am now, soft-pureed food, I am supposed to have protein first. My meals should be 1/2 cup size with protein being 1/4 cup and carb being 1/4 cup. Cheese is consider a good carb since it has protein as well. They have us add all sorts of cottage cheese, shredded 2% cheese, etc. I can have tuna with light mayo and up to 3 saltine squares. I am supposed to have a protein shake for my snacks. I do have manderine oranges with out sugar or fresh pineapple in the afternoon. Not much but it tastes so good and is so refreshing. I love it. I have had dry carbs like crackers or 100 calories snack bags but only a few times and I really like the cheese or fruit better. Lucky right now I guess.

Hey,

My comment would be keep doing wat ur doing.

The nutritional book that I was given bby the nut does list some "snack foods" that are acceptable, but it says to eat small quantities and only wen u have met ur daily nut requirements. Because it is empty calories. I try to avoid them but.........

I admit I have indulged in the decadent(sp) crunchy salty stuff. Not in large quantities, but as added carbs to balance out my my blood sugar. Keep getting these strange headaches if I am low on carbs. They go away as soon as I eat.

I think that getting back to eating those kinds of foods if one doesn't  have too will keep one's weight loss slowed. Just brings back bad habits.

Just my opinion. but as Sargeant Schultz said it the sit-com "Hogan's Heroes" I know nussing"

I'm having my husband put the scale away. I am tired of looking at it and not seeing more weight come off. And then I'm going to read all the diet papers they gave me and get back to the basics, because I am sure that I am eating all wrong. Man it's so hard to change the way you think about food and the type of food you eat.

Meet the Surgeon Aug 1, 2011 .... hopefully the surgeons office is right and everything will go fast and I'll have surgery later this month.

It is slow slow for me. I have lost 26 pounds since surgery on 12/22. I will see the nut tomorrow. I have a lot of questions. People say more water. More protein. Up your calories, you are in starvation mode... Doc says don't worry about calories or weight loss. Just follow the program for now. It is all making me nuts. I will only weight myself once a week now.

I have clothes that I am shrinking into but you are right, they are fitting differently. I did actually spend some $$ on jeans. I hadn't worn any in years. I was so excited when I took 2 sizes smaller than what I had been wearing. Still huge but not bad.

Thanks for site info.

I am so sick of ground beef, anything that consist of ground beef I am just sick of.
Eggs are horrible  now I don't know why. I use to love eggs, but now yuck. And I can't do leftovers. I don't understand it. I have only had one good meal since WLS and that was last week. Salmon with a salad that I made at home.  Now that was. But I don't want to have that everyday.
I can't wait to learn new ideas

If you can avoid, do so. I have tried some of these same foods and now I have to ween myself off of them. Thank God it's not hard resisting these foods, but If I continue I will be now better off then I was better the surgery.  Stay focus you're doing great if your doing without them.
