I haven't had salads yet.  I am scared of leafy greens.  Has anyone had problems digesting?  Or is it okay to try now?

I haven't had a full blown salad but I have tried small bites of  lettuce from Ceasar salad from some eateries and other raw veggies, Had no real problems, which is good cuz I love fresh Jersey tomatoes.

Have you talked with your nut or your surgeon recently? They may have better info for you.

I buy ettuce already shredded, add cheese, spray on dressing lowfat of course, half a boiled egg white only, chopped. Usually a few slices of cucumber chopped, 2 or 3 crutons, and a tablespoon of some crunchy bacon bit things.  I love it, I eat at least two a day! Sometimes with tuna, or chicken or even hamburger on them.  Now I dont do good with any other fresh veggies, Broccli or anything, unless its cooked to a soggey mess!

I agree with you on the broccoli!  It's just too dense I guess?

I have had no problem with salad!  I was a bit afraid to try it though.

I was like you but tried a bit a few weeks ago - my daughter and I had gotten grilled chicken salads from Subway and I had been eating only the chicken and leaving the salad for her.  But a few weeks ago I decided to try a bite of the salad.  I chewed it to smithereens before I swallowed it!  And I sat there and waited for it to make me sick, but it didn't.  I tried another couple of bites and waited awhile after each one.  They didn't seem to make me feel as full - maybe because by the time you chew it into a practically liquid form it doesn't take up much space!  lol

I think by now it's ok to try anything that's reasonable - small bite at a time.  Now I make sure I'm getting my protein in and then add salad when I want it.  It is so refreshing to chew on crunchy raw veggies again!

Good luck!

I've had no problems with salads. I too, cannot do broccoli. Even cooked to mush, my pouch does not tolerate it.

Thanks!  I did it.  Nothing happened.  YAY!!!  Mostly ate just the chicken, but the lettuce was digested and I am still alive and well...

I love salads!  I haven't had any issues with eating them for the last month or so.  I think I must be pretty lucky, though, because I only seem to have problems with sliced breads and flour tortillas.  Broccoli goes down just fine.

I've been eating salads for about six weeks and haven't had any problems.  I just make sure I've got enough protein mixed in (chicken, cheese, eggs).
