Big News at my 3 Month Follow-up Appt

Well.. I had my "3 month" follow up appointment.  (I won't actually be at 3 months until the 22nd, but you get the picture)  Anyhow, my appt was this past Tuesday the 10th.  I am down 44 pounds for a total of 31% of my excess weight lost!  The doc says that at 3 months (12 days from my appt) I should be between 31 and 35% of the excess weight lost.  So, I'm right on track.

I also had to have blood drawn for, I thought, the follow-through on the elevated Lipase/Amylase that they ""discovered" at my ER visit on day 13 after surgery.  So, needless to say, I didn't fast.  I get in for the bloodwork to find out the doc had ordered EVERYTHING!  Cholesterol, vitamins, iron, triglycerides, etc.  EVERYTHING!  So.. they made a note that it was non-fasting and said if the lab asked to tell them I fasted!  LOL  too funny

So, I go in for my appt.    Oh ya, did I mention I've been on medicine for GERD for 4 years, cholesterol AND triglycerides for 7 years?  They told me the day of surgery to stop taking those.  So, I'm three months without meds.  (Have you figured out where this is going yet?? LOL)  Anyhow... nearly everything was TOTALL NORMAL!  WITHOUT MEDS!  OMG I did a dance right there in the office!!  My triglycerides were 2 points above "normal" but the doc said, "You didn't fast.. what do you expect?  This is great!"  And, my iron saturation was low.  Guess I should've read the directions a little more closely that said 'do not take Calcium and iron together'.  Duh.  SO, I'm now taking my calcium, multi, Urso, Pepcid in the morning and evening.  And my iron I now take at lunchtime with Vitamin C.  That should fix it all.  :-)

I was soooooo excited!  This is why I did the surgery!  The weight loss is a bonus!!!  OMG I'm So freakin' happy I just had to share with my OH family!!!  Thank you ALL for your support throughout this!  I hope you know how much I appreciate it and keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers!

Julie, that is wonderful about the percentage of weight loss already. 31% is nuts. (I should figure out mine)  You're doing so great and your support on the Dec board is so appreciated.

Good morning!  The thanks for the support goes both ways!  It's nice to know that I've friends out there who understand what's going on.... even if I've never met them!!!

My doc actually figures out the percent loss at every visit.  They don't want us thinking about the loss in terms of pounds because that's different for everyone depending on where they start out.  So.. .they look at the percentage of excess lost.  It's more meaningful to me, too.  I just LOVE my doctor at the CBS here!  (And my surgeon as well!  LOL)

I totally need to do the measurements!  I still too lazy!!  LOL  I am, though, starting to really notice a difference in my clothes . I was in a 22, pushing a 24 quite well, when I went into surgery.  I'm going to a professional conference in New Orleans this week and wanted clothes that fit!  I was so excited to fit into an 18!!  So, I'm not buying anything else (hadn't planned to buy ANYTHING until I was done losing) but figured this was a good reason!  I was very excited that the 18 fit!  It's been 10 years since I wore that size!  YAY  (Though, I must admit to still being just every so slightly jealous of  your 13's!)

Anyhow.. thanks for support.  It feels so good to be feelin' good!  I'll be looking forward to hearing how your bloodwork goes this week!!!

I know what you mean!  I haven't been this size in 15 years!
Can you tell me how to figure the percentage of weight lost?  You said you were at 31%.  I've lost 55 lbs I went from 241 to 186.  I'm no math wiz!
Thanks

To do the % of excess lost you take the amount you've already lost and divide it by the total amount you have to lose (from date of surgery).  So, mine was 44 pounds divided by 132.  (If I'm doing that math right!  LOL)
