My Bad! I ate tortilla chips (about 6) with my chili last night

So I was like - let me see if I can do this.  I had a cup of chili for dinner and at tortilla chips on the side.  I waited for pain. Dumping. Nausea. Poops. And . . . Nuthin'.  Wow, that was kind of a milestone for me. I haven't had anything really crunchy like that since my RNY on 12/9.   I HAVE had a couple of Wheat Thins with tuna, but I chewed them well and there were no rough edges.

I think that our ability to regain "normal" eating again is a sigh of success not failure. I am post of 12/15 and have had a few tortilla chips with no ill effects. I think the reintroduction of small amounts of crackers and such has only made me more sane but happier overall with my choice.Good luck

I completely agree with you re: the "sanity" of it - the more normally I eat, the more normal I feel.  I feel like I am on the road to recovery now and my insides must be healing.

I went to my favorite mexican restraunt yesterday for lunch with friends. I had 5 or 6 large tortilla chips with queso and 1 pc of quesidilla. (there were 4 triangles) I was so happy to have normal food, and eat it without issue, plus take home 3/4 of my plate - YEA ME!!

I completely understand.  My doctor haws always said that i will be able to eat normal just with snaller(extremely smaller) amounts.  While I do eat mostly protein, I do enjoy eating a bite of dry toast eith my eggs, crackers with my tuna or one of my favorites is peanut butter and crackers.  I can only eat about 4 but they are so good and give me an extra protein boost.  Plus I love the sweet and salty contrast.

I don't think I would survive this surgery if I could only have all protein all the time.  I love variety in food.

I know its a great feeling to be getting to eat some  crunchy things. I've never been a chip person persay but it is nice to chew on one now and then. I am a mexican food freak though so i will eat a tortilla with some salsa now and again.

I experimented as well to see what, if anything, would happen, but.... with CAKE! (mind you, only about a spoonful, but still...)

Warning: we are treading very dangerous waters here.  Just because we can eat something without a bad result doesn't mean it's the best choice for us!

For me, the reason I chose WLS was a tool that would make me physically sick if ate things that were no good for me (as well as eating too much).  I was actually a bit disappointed that I didn't feel sick!  Just  made it scary for me.  I can't afford to fall into bad habits again!
