It is hard to believe that it has been six weeks since surgery. I didn't think I was going to survive the 2 weeks post surgerylet alone see the six week check up,  then it seamed time flew by.

The dr and the nut are very pleased with my progression. 30 lbs down and the scars are healing nicely.

How is everybody esle doing?

I need to hear some good news from some friends

Congrats Tom!  Sounds like you are doing very well; so glad to hear it.

You're going to need a much smaller purple dress I think

In my world, on the positive side, I have dropped two sizes and have been back to work since two weeks after my surgery.  I feel great!

Negative would be how slooooow the weight is coming off.  I have only lost about a pound in the last two weeks.  I can't figure out how I'm barely getting in 600 calories a day, getting in all my protein and vitamins, and still my body wants to hang on to the fat.  Jeez!

BUT - I already signed up to do the Bay to Breakers with my friends.  If you've never heard of Bay to Breakers, you gotta check it out on the web... it's a run/walk race that could only happen in San Francisco.  I'm not going to wear a costume but I'm looking forward to that anyway!!!

Way to go Tom!!!     You're doing awesome!  I'm so very proud of you.  Your family must be ecstatic!!!  (Heh, now you can REALLY terrorize your poor daughter when you take her to the mall!)  LOL

Keep up the great work!  We're gonna make it!

p.s.  I concur about the smaller size on the purple dress... the larger just won't be becoming on you any longer.  Perhaps I should start a collection to get a new one for you!  hahahahaha

Great work, Tom!  It IS hard to believe it's 6 weeks already!  My 6 week checkup is next week.  I'm about at the 30 lb mark too. Last time I lost that much it took me about a year!!!

Doing very well but finding myself very hungry if I don't keep sipping continuously (happens after about 15 mins).  I'll talk to nut about that next week.

It is so great to hear the good news from everybody. Kep up the good work.

I thought the weight was going to come off faster the first several months. I guess I was wrong.

I was pondering the other day. even though I am losing weight, which I am proud of, I wish I could see myself objectively like everybody else and see what everybody else sees. Cuz I dont feel as thin as the scale says I am. I know getting used to the weight change is going to be a while. Afterall I have been large a very long time.

I am going to try to keep my calories in the 1100 range any lower and I think I am going to pass out. I am have been craving carbs lately, have resisited for the most part. I broke down one day and a had another slice of white bread. I am so ashamed.. I am not worthy.
I noticed if I upped my water and protein the weight comes off but slowly.

I hope everybody has a great day today.

I, too, thought the weight would come off a lot faster.  However, I've got two comments on that.  First, you ARE working out so it's likely that while you're losing fat you're gaining muscle which, we all know, weighs more than fat.  So... the scale may not really reflect what you're losing!!

Secondly, and more importantly to me, I think I'm glad I'm losing slowly.  (Not that I don't WANT it gone right NOW.. lol)  I figure slow is far better for my body and metabolism AND for that pesky excess skin problem.  Slow, I am hoping, will give me a chance to "tone" around what's being lost and maybe, through a miracle??, I might be able to avoid plastic surgery!!

Anyhow... I truly am proud of you.  Don't beat yourself up about the bread.  I am not a fan of white bread to begin with so that hasn't been an issue for me.  I'm still toasting my bread.  lol (I'll be 6 weeks on Sunday)  I've had some chips, I've had some pizza... I'm not willing to throw away everything that life has to give.  BUT, I have not yet finished a piece of pizza nor have I had more than about 5 chips on any occasion.  I'm not going to beat myself up about it!  It's all about moderation and making sure I have what I NEED first!

Have a superb week!

Great job, 30 lbs in six weeks is awesome.

Me... I'm stuck at 25 lbs. I am glad I've lost that weight just wi**** would pick up a bit... I asked the surgeon about how much they expect me to lose... they don't know and won't guess. I guess thats the thing about clinical trials, you just don't know what your getting yourself in for. LOL...

But I've been exercising good, have gone down for 4 days in a row now, before that it was every other day for 30 minutes. Maybe I will measure myself and see if I'm losing any inches.

Meet the Surgeon Aug 1, 2011 .... hopefully the surgeons office is right and everything will go fast and I'll have surgery later this month.

Heya Tom!

You're doing great!  It's pretty amazing to see how fast time goes, huh?  I'm 2 weeks ahead of you, and just passed 31 pounds this morning.  I was stalled at 27 pounds for about 2 1/2 weeks.  Was getting very frustrated.  Took some measurements, and I'd lost another 10 inches while stalled.  How does that happen?!  LOL.

Anyways, keep up the good work, and the great spirits!

Best,

Fay
