WTH? The scale is moving... UP!!!

Okay, so I'm just over 3 week out from RNY.  The scale has been slowly but surely moving down.  I'd heard from a number of folks that they hit a stall around 3 weeks so I've been expecting that.  However, I did NOT expect that the scale would go UP three pounds!  WTH?  Has this happened to anyone else?  I'm very, very frustrated right now!!  Any advice?

Don't be discouraged.  Are you weighing yourself daily?  If so, stop it!  It could be water weight or maybe you need to poop?  Could it be retained water due to your monthly cycle?  Or your body is just making some adjustments.  I did the same thing.  Now, I weigh on Sunday mornings.  Did you measure yourself when you began this journey?  If not, measure youself now.  I've found that inches are coming off when pounds are not.  Are you doing any walking?  When I started a small 20 minute per day walk, things got moving.   Now, 30 minutes workouts most days of the week are helping.

You are not alone. I was realieved to read on another string that a friend's had gone up. I thought I was the only one. Now I see your post here as well. I thought I was a freak of nature at first. It's not logical at all given how little we can take in. But I am drinking almost my daily requirement of fluids (finally) so I am going to try to believe its fluid weight and not spaz out yet. I'm going to wait one more week and see where I am.

I have the same surgery date as you. I just went two weeks and only lost 6 lbs. I suppose that is okay but I was going nuts because I was weighing myself daily and it didn't seem to move. She is right when she said pick one day a week and do your weighing then. I was freaking out with only 6lbs lost but I did lose 8 inches off of my waist!

It happened to me too!  I've gotten so frustrated with the fluctuations and plateaus (and I'm only 4 weeks out) that I chucked my scale in the closet.

I keep hearing from co-workers that they can really see the difference, and I have gone down two sizes, so I'm gonna put my faith in the fact that long term it will work out just fine.   Maybe we both need to quit being a slave to the damn evil bathroom scale!  LOL

Thanks everyone!  You've saved me from a major panic attack!

on the good news front... I finally, just yesterday, met my caloric and protein goal for the day!  1232 calories and 65 g protein!  Now, I need to get my fluids up there too!!

Thanks to everyone for the support. I KNOW you are right and I will really try not to weigh myself every day!!!
