Trip to the ER and bad news

I'm also sorry to hear about your pain and diagnoses.

Fortunately, I had my gb out last year, but if I didn't, one of my clearance tests would have been for gall stones - so I would not be able to have the RNY if I had stones (or perhaps they would have removed the gb at the same time?)  Just another example of how different all docs are!

I didn't know I had gb problems.  I went to the ER convinced I was having a heart attack as I had severe pressure in the center of my chest!  They had me hooked up on the monitors and didn't find anything wrong.  Then the ER doc suggested doing an ultrasound of my digestive organs and lo and behold - I had an enlarged gall bladder with huge stones!  But I never experienced any pain or any other symptoms whatsoever until that point.

Hope you feel better!

I just hope the gb stuff can wait until summer.  I just do NOT want to miss more work.  It is so very hard to recover middle school students in the inner city when you're out!  This 2 week extension is killing me.  I wasn't supposed to have to take any time off of work!

I'll be keeping an eye out for the symptoms you mentioned.  Several friends have told me they felt like they were having heart attacks too!  At least I know what to look for!

Thanks!

I am so hoping you are feeling better soon!

And I 100% agree with you about the gallbladder - why not just take it out during surgery?! I begged my surgeon to and because it was healthy, he didn't. aargh

Keep us posted on how you are doing!!!

Thank you so much for your support!  I'm doing pretty well, I think.  I've not had ANY pain from the gb!  If it weren't for the pain from the hematoma I would've never know about the gb.  God works in mysterious ways!  lol

The hematoma continues to be bothersome.  The area of pain seems larger but the pain seems less intense now.  I'm hoping that means that it is dissipating and will clear up soon.  They've made me take off of wor****il the 20th of January (I was supposed to return on the 5th)  It's probably good because of the pain and all... but.. I HATE using my sick time when I'm not really "sick".  I know... crazy.  That's just me!

Anyhow.. I have my surgical follow-up on the 21st.  I imagine I'll find out then what the doctor wants to do about the gb.  I'll let everyone know when I know more!

Thanks again!

I am so sorry you are going thru this. I know gb attacks can be very painful. dilaudad is a wonderful drug.

Usaully they don't develope this quickly. Did you have a ultrasound of yuor gb before the wls?

That is why they do it. to find the stones. I no I didn't have one cuz I no I have stones but I found out the other day, my surgeon didn't kknow I had stones. You should have seen the look I got when I told her.

Hope you feel better soon.
