I Fell !!!!!

I hate this winter stuff!  I live in Jackson Hole, Wy, and we have over 3 feet of snow right now.  The walk into work was very slick yesterday, and I fell.  I landed on my rump, but pulled something in my belly.  I'm 4 weeks out  on Monday.  My dr. didn't think I did anything to my surgery, but thought I'd probably pulled a muscle.  Today, my butt is achy, and my shoulders - its like I jarred my whole body.  :(

You poor thing!  I hope you'll start feeling better soon!

Since I fell off my kitchen stool and on to my kitchen floor when I fainted last Monday, everything has been sore, especially my neck and shoulder muscles.

Take care of yourself!

Thanks so much for all your kind words.  I guess I was just really scared that I had hurt something or messed up my surgery.  I appreciate the kindness from each of you!  Hot showers and taking it easy the last couple of days have really helped - I'm feeling much better!

PS - I'll switch places with you any time!  Boston sounds great!  LOL.

Fay- Sorry you fell. I'm in MN and we had a nasty layer of ice laid down yesterday. It's like a skating rink out there, I'm always afraid of falling, but even more now.  Did you call your doctor or go in?  I keep thinking the pain I'm having on the left side is my muscle being strained from a few episodes of spitting up, but I'm not sure.  Something I know Advil would make better, but since I can't... UGH!! I knew I'd miss the Advil, but not so soon.

Hi Kristy,

It's awful the ice and snow right now, isn't it?  In addition to having RNY on Dec. 8, I've also had 4 surgeries in the last year on both my wrists...so falling is just not acceptable in my book - I don't want to have to do all that over again!!!  I called my dr.  He was out of town.  But he asked me to describe where (in relation to my hip bone) the pain was.  Mine was maybe 3-4 inches below the left side incision.  He said it was likely I had pulled the muscle, but that the surgery was probably fine.  He recommended putting heat on it.

I have had several days where the left incision area has felt 'pulled' or tweaked.  At one point I thought maybe I had a hernia (not that I really know what that would feel like).  I've vomited 4-5 times now, and haven't felt anything in my tummy from that.

In addition to being sore from the fall this weekend, I had cramps (yay - being a woman is awesome...LOL).  I found liquid tylenol (which we can have!) at the grocery store.  It really helped alot!

 :)

Is the liquid Tylanol for adults? I have liquid for my 1 yr old, probably have to take 2 bottles to get a full adult dose though. I've got cramps off and on too. Had an IUD put in before my RNY, so that's another added tummy issue. I should have thought twice about adding potential separate discomfort while recovering from RNY. Dah!  Tylanol doesn't help me with cramps. I SOOOOOO miss my Advil!

(I broke my left wrist when I was about 11 ice skating, so that's why I'm so scared about falling)

Hey all!  We just got a glazing of ice outside Boston...  I use YAKTRAX - they pull on over any shoe or boot and grip all ICE (do NOT wear them on TILE: you will bust your ASS!... and DO NOT wear them on carpet that is yours (they will shred it).)  I stride out confidently and my dogs (3) are wiping out left and right!

ORDER SOME TODAY!  (amazon, EMS, REI, even ebay! etc.)

Kristy -

It is adult tylenol - 1 oz is the dosage.  It's an icky cherry flavor, but whatever.  Make sure you don't get the Tylenol PM (although the vanilla flavor was much more appealling!)

Yaktrax - I got rid of mine.  Didn't work for me.  I'm glad they work for you in Boston!!
