I am home!!!
Hi Everyone!
I made it, had RNY on Monday, they kept me an extra night only because I live so far from the hospital. I am grateful for that.
I feel pretty good all and all .. tired a little sore but I can't swollow the huge pills and the liquid...well I will work through it .. lol
Just happy to be on the losers bench, finally!

Congrats on your new start in the new year. I'm glad you made it through well. Being home os a good feeling. The first two weeks are still a struggle for me, but its good to know we are all here together.
As for swallowing pills, my nut told me it is impossible given the size of the new esophogus, so all crushed, liquid, and chewable for me
.

Welcome home! Remember your pills should all be crushed for at least the first 6 weeks. The "hole" leaving you is now only about the size of a straw so a pill will not fit through it. You don't want anything getting stuck down there!!

You know I never even thought about the pills. In the hspital they were so nachalant (is that how you spell that?) about handing them out and I was feeling bad because I was having trouble swollowing them! Now it makes sense. But let me tell you ~ pain pills TASTE DISGUSTING!
I mixed it with vanilla pudding and OMG... I only got half of it down, enough to get me to sleep last night!! I am about to crush up todays ****tail of pills.. lol

Welcome back home. I'm surprised they gave you whole pills at the hospital.
I have to crush my pain medication to have it. I mix it with crystal light and drink it like a shot.
I can't have anything but liquids yet, but I did read about people that mix their crushed pills with unsweetened apple sauce.

That is what I forgot .. unsweetened applesauce! thanks .. I will try with crystal light too. That was really bad yesterday!
My docotor lets us do creamy liquids after the first 3 -4 days of clear liquid. He also told me in the hospital if I tolerate the creamy liquids well I can go on to pureed. He said ..trust your body, don't pu**** but you will know when you can move on. So I am just taking it one day at a time.
