Is anyone else still struggling

with water, protein and food intake.  Every morning I wake up nauseous, so it takes me a while to recover from that.  Then I usually have 1/2 of cup of hot tea which takes me about 30 minutes to get down. Then I am full.  I can only get in about 2-4 oz of liquids in in an hour's time frame.  And if I eat then I have to wait at least an hour before drinking anything or I'm so full I'm sick.
I usually average about 3-4 cups of water a day and that includes the 8 oz of protein shake I manage to choke down( but it makes me so full I want to puke).
I just fell like at 2 wks out I should be feeling better by now and at least meeting my water goals.  I manage about 1-2 meals a day, but noting taste, smells or looks good.
Do you guys have any tips to when things get better.

It will get better. My doctor gave me Nexium when I first had my surgery and I had to take it at least 30 min prior to eating or drinking anything for the day for my first month, which stopped my nausea. I could only eat and drink out of those small 1oz cups and everything had to be pureed for the first month and not have too much of a texture...everything I ate went in the blender. I had to eat and then about 30 min later try to drink but could not do both at the same time.  I do not recall being on the protein shakes prior to my 1st month out...I ate lots of blended meats with fat free gravy...hopefully this helps some.

YES WE CAN!
I will never consider myself a failure...unless I stop trying.
If you fall 7 times; make sure you get up 8 !

Ditto for me.  I'm just a tad under 2 weeks out and on pureed foods.  So far the meals aren't too bad but the drinking, especially the protein drinks make me very nauseous and overly full.  Perhaps I am drinking them too fast and need to make them last.  My first week I was intaking 4 oz over an hour, and I am drinking the protein 8 oz in 1/2 hour.  For my next drink, I will commit to going back to using the timer and 1 oz medicine cup to sip it.

Hi everyone...I know this was posted a while ago but I just thought I would share with you the protein drinks I drink. It is the only one I can handle right now (and I have tried alot!) It is EAS 100% whey protein. It is 23 gms of protein per scoop and you use two scoops per 6-8ozs. I mix two scoops with 6 ozs of water and sip on this for about 1-2hours until I have drank it all. That is 46gms of protein in one drink! I then wait at least 1 hour before eatting anything (usually longer). So anyway that is how I deal with the protein right now I still cannot eat too much at eat meal (I am eatting 1/4c to 1/3c total food per meal) MD wants me up to 1/2c total food per meal. But I guess it will come. Good luck to everyone! and keep up the good work!

It's been a month for me and I'm still struggling. I'm having a hard time because before surgery there were a number of protein shakes I liked, now I don't.  Struggle each day to get in enough water. Usually I can eek out 48oz but would rather be up to 64+.  I wasn't expecting to feel like you, nothing really tastes , sounds or looks appealing. What a change!  Even if I had just a few "go to" high protein items that I liked, I'd be so much happier. You're not alone.

Thanks everyone for the tips.  I found out that I am very lactose intolerant so my protein was making me sick.  I got some protein bullets that I tolerate and today i found some low lactose protein that I'm going to try with my lactaid to see if I get it down. I'm still struggling with water, but its getting easier.  I started writing down my water and food intake to see how much I'm getting in.  Right now I'm at about 5 cups a day, which is better than 2 weeks ago.  Still not 8 cups but still good.  My energy is still shot though.  I wish that would come back.  I return back to work next week and I'm worried about being so tired all the time.
