Freezing all the time now!!!

Okay, I have NEVER been one who is cold.  I'm always the one wanting the A/C turned up and the heat turned down.  Normally, I have my heat set at 63 in the winter and the A/C at about 72 in the summer.  My  heat is now at 73 and I am still absolutely freezing!  When staying with my folks last week right after my surgery I thought I'd never be warm again.  Dad had the heat set at 67 and my fingers were like ice cubes.  I took a 20 minute HOT shower one morning and just barely got the warmth back into them.

I just wondered if anyone else is having this problem.  I mean.. could it be from all the liquids being relatively cool when I drink them?  Is it directly related to the surgery?  I wasn't cold in the hospital where I was eating ice chips but I also don't know what they had the heat set at.

Any thoughts from my fellow losers out there??

Thanks
Julie

OMG !! Julie, I am feeling the same way, I am one well I used to be one to just wear a t-shirt all year long and slept with a sheet but now I sleep with sweatpants and sweat shirt with 3 blankets on me and I am freezing all of the time.  My hands are always cold my feet are like ice blocks and I am driving everyone nuts by turning the heat up.lol well I hope you find warmth again !!!

You have *no* idea how jazzed I was to see your post.  I've always been the kind of gal who walked around in shorts in the winter time... hot all the time.  However, I have been cold ever since the surgery!  I do mean right away.... I thought my hospital room was freezing and couldn't wait to get home.

Now that I'm home, my hubby is complaining about the heat being set too high!

This was really weird to me, because this change was right away - I had not lost a pound and already was complaining about the cold.

Let's hope this is a temporary thing, because imagine how much worse it's going to be when the weight comes off?  Gah!

Thank you both for posting a reply.  I really thought I was losing it!!  I'm glad to know that I'm not alone but will admit I feel badly that you're going through it as well.  I also find that I am just totally tired all the time.  I guess that's to be expected what with the body trying to heal and recover and all.  I guess I just didn't expect to be this tired!  MY poor kids surely don't understand what's wrong with their crazy mother!  (They are 6 and 3)  But, they have been so helpful.  Everything I've asked them to help with they have actually done without complaining!  That FOR SURE I'd better enjoy while I can!!

Have a stellar night ladies!!  Stay warm!

I am the same way, I feel like a snowman lol! I also take 20 minute showers just to warm up. I had the ac on from March til November, those days are long gone. Now I feel bad that I always froze everybody out at work!

I have the same feeling, I think I read low iron can make you cold. So maybe the combo of some blood loss, plus all the energy going into healing rather than heat production explains it?

I had to buy thermo pants and wear gloves.  I live in
california, but I feel like I am somewhere in the snow.

I'm sorry, but your post made me laugh out loud!  It's pretty blasted cold here in Northeast Ohio but the thought of someone in good ole Cali havin' to buy thermals made me chuckle!

Good luck staying warm and I do apologize for laughing at your thermals.  :-)

It is cold here in Ohio, except Satuday --- strangely it was 63 degrees that day.

Although the being cold all the time must be an RNY thing, because I haven't been unusually cold. i feel the same as I did before the surgery - well at least temperature wise.

Meet the Surgeon Aug 1, 2011 .... hopefully the surgeons office is right and everything will go fast and I'll have surgery later this month.

Consider yourself very lucky!!  LOL  My fingers actually ache they get so cold.   Yet, when I hold one of my children's hands, they are quite warm.  I've taken to sneaking up on them and jamming my hands down their backs !!  I find it hysterical.  Them, not so much.  lol

I'm thinking it'll start to warm up in Ohio... hmmm.. probably like JULY!  lol  Nah, usually by mid-May it isn't too bad.  The thing is I have the heat set high so it's warm in the house.  I'm just freezing.  Go figure!  I'll have to be sure to share that with the skinny secretary at our school who I'm always teasing.  I tell her she's only cold because she has no fat on her bones!  lol  :-)

Keep on stayin' warm!   I'll try to do the same.
