Gas X strips?

Hi and congrats to all who have had their surgeries and good luck to all that are pre-op!!  I will be having lap RNY on New Year's Eve....tired of this liquid diet already, but I know I have a few more weeks left of it.  I know it will be worth it.
I have a question about the post-op gas....I read some posts that Gas X strips work really well.  Now, are these good for the gas that is trapped in your shoulders etc...?  Or were the folks just referring to normal gas pains?  I want to know, so I can run out and buy some to have on hand for when I get home.
Thanks for the info!!
Marie

Hi Marie,
I haven't heard that tip, but my guess is no, because the gas in the hospital isn't all in your digestive system. They pump up your stomach wall to see the intestines etc. so I don't see how a strip in your mouth and digestive system could help with that kind of gas.

I got home on December 24th from having bypass on Dec 22. The first two days home Gas X strips were a god send. I feel like it dealt with all of my gas...everything calmed down after I used them. Don't be afraid to try them and see if it works for you. The shoulder pain hasn't been bad at all for me...a little here and there. Good luck to you.

Marie,

Good luck with your surgery. Gas-X strips are great and remember to walk, that really helps with the gas.
