1 week postop...
I gained about 10 pounds at the hospital. I have lost that and a little bit more. Today was the first day I got enough protein in. I was happy with 2 oz of protein drink, but today I increased it to 4 oz of protein drink. Not hungry at all. I think the diarrhea finally stopped too.
I still don't like the heparin shots I have to give myself 3x's a day. I tried to go 24 hours between pain meds and woke up in terrible pain (in my knees) at 3:30am. It was time to take the meds!
I still haven't seen my doctor for a follow-up. Hopefully this week sometime.

Had my first post op appt today and lost 16.8 lbs!!! Funny thing is I don't feel like I lost anything. In fact, before getting on the scale, I commented that I thought it was going to show a GAIN!!! I'm still feeling quite bloated (they explained still a lot of air in there). My clothes don't seem to be much bigger yet either and there's still a bit of sharp pain on my left side - probably still gas that's waiting its turn to break up and release.
I've also graduated from a full liquid to a pureed diet. I think I'll be going on to a soft diet next week (or at least more foods will be added to puree such as hard cheese and potatoes). One day at a time is all I can handle right now anyway. I enjoyed my scrambled egg (this was wild - it took 15 mins for me to eat one egg, whereas before I would have wolfed down 3 or 4 eggs in 5 minutes!) and am looking forward to a bean dish tonight. Of course, only 1/4 to 1/2 cup, but still tastes better than plain broth!
