I just had my RNY on the 22nd of December.  I have to do full liquids until day 10.  On day 11 I can start soft purees.  (Anything that's the consistency of runny applesauce)  I stay on that until day 28 and on day 29 I can start soft solids and start introducing other foods.  However, no steak or roasts until 4 months out.  :-)

I'm not much enjoying the liquids.  WHile I do like soup, I'm kind of sick of it now and i"m only on day 4!  lol

Hi!  I was also RNY on 12/22 and have been on clear liquids only until tomorrow when I can start full liquids (adding milk, protein drinks, yogurt, sf pudding, hot cereal to the regiment).  I see the nut again on 12/30.  She only told me the diet until that point but I think I may be starting on purees after I see her.

I'm doing pretty well on the liquids.  I'm not much into clear broth, but I'm drinking Wylers drinks, Nestles green tea, water and ice pops.  I'm driving myself crazy with trying to get the timing and amount of sips correct (first 2 days was 1 oz per hour; yesterday and today are 2 oz per hour).  Hard to make an ice pop last for an hour!!!

My RNY was 12/9/08.  At this point, I am living on: cottage cheese, string cheese, cheddar cheese slices, Carb Control yogurt, Quaker Oats Weight control oatmeal every a.m. for breakfast, Stew Leonards chicken chili, tunafish mashed with Hellmans lowfat mayo, and pureed chicken nuked with melted cheese. I supplement with SF popsicles, SF jello and SF chocolate pudding. I never go hungry and I hit my 75g of protein just fine.  If I am off target, I drink a Muscle Milk.
Hope this helps.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but what is the difference between pureed and soft foods?  I am on a 3 week clear liquid diet and then not sure what comes next.

I had my surgery on 12/4.  I did 2 weeks liquid before surgery and 10 days post op.
I am now on Pureed or soft food (my NUT explained that I didn't have to eat the consistency of babyfood but I should chop in a blender or chopper anything that may be too difficult to chew to a soft consistency)  I still finely chop my chicken breasts. I am on this for 2 months and then go to the next stage whi*****ludes vegetables only.  After 6 months I can include carbs and fruit (good carbs).  Most difficult time for me is breakfast.  I hate eggs.  I can't seem to handle cottage cheese in any quantity more than a tablespoon and I tried yogurt (sugar free) and it didn't sit well.  I still opt for a protein drink most days.

I started pureed stage on Christmas. I really like soups like split pea w/ ham & bacon or bean & bacon pureed. They're nice and thick and have some good protein and fiber.   Try here for ideas:

I'm making the baked riccota recipe tonight.  I'm also going to try making instant mashed potatos with milk instead of water and add a little powdered milk or unflavored protein powder to up the protein.  Just had some FF refried beans with alittle melted cheese today, that was good.

I was just cleared for soft foods yesterday.  My doc says I can have cottage cheese, mash potatos, yogurt, hot cereals, eggs and anything with the egg consistency.  I just had some boiled shrimp and it was so good.  I chew everything to mush.  I also got some refried beans, tuna and canned chicken to make salads with.

I was on clear liquids for two days (while I was in the hospital) and then two days of full liquids.  Now I am on Puree's for about two more weeks.  I go to the doctor for my first visit tomorrow so I might get changes to my diet then.
