today started off practically pain free... until the shoulder pain started. OMG it hurts, and i am not happy about it.

does any one else have shoulder pain?  I looked it up and from what I read it is referred pain from the diapram... at least i think I read that right... and that it could last from a couple weeks to months.

Thats insane, I signed up for losing weight, not for being in constant pain.

Okay I guess I'm being a bit whiny, I guess it's just getting to me that, not only do I have crazy pain in my belly, and can barely eat.. although mashed potatos are quite yummy with me. I just hate that i am not able to pick up my babies yet, and that they can't really sit on my lab because somohow thier little elbows or knees find my most painful spot.

I'll just be happy when I am pain free.

Meet the Surgeon Aug 1, 2011 .... hopefully the surgeons office is right and everything will go fast and I'll have surgery later this month.

The shoulder pain is caused by a buildup of the gases that the doc has to pump into our belly to do the surgery.  Walk, walk, walk.  Get the gas moving.  It's the only way to get rid of the pain.  :-)

When I was in the hospital, they asked if I was having any shoulder pain.  They were surprised I was not having it, almost everyone does.

Hopefully it will go away soon.

I expect to be on a full liquid diet for the next too weeks.  Do make sure you are getting your protein in before anything else.  It's really important.

I've been getting most of my protien in at breakfast... my pastor gave me the idea (he had the VSG done a year ago) to double the scoops of protien powder I use for my morning drink. This way instead of 20 grams I am getting 40.

What everyone said is the same thing I was told.  My shoulder hurt worse than any other part of the surgery (left shoulder).  I walked and walked but I will say that it hurt for almost 2 weeks post op (I am a little over 3 weeks).  Occassionally if I get a bad bout of gas it hurts again but for the most part it is finally gone.
