What pain meds did they send you home on?
I got sent hom with Hydrocodone 7.5 liquid and wonder if there is something better for pain. I've been delaying taking it on regular intervals because it's so gross tasting and smelling. Do they give you liquid instead of a pill for better/ quicker absorbsion? I do fine taking pills. Just pondering if I should call and ask for something else, or if I have the liquid because it's better for us after surgery.
Men- IGNORE....
On top of the tummy pain & gas pains, I'm having what seem to be PMS cramps probably thanks to the IUD my OB placed before my RNY. I'm DYING to take some Advil. GRRRRRR !

Hi Kristy,
Sorry to hear about the pain you're experiencing. My doctor sent me home with percocet tablets. I am sure some surgeons prescribe liquid as it might be easier to swallow after surgery but if you are not taking the medication because of its smell and taste then its not going to help you. I would call my surgeon and request another prescription be written for something in tablet or soft gels. I hope you can get the resolved soon......some of us really need the pain meds especially right after surgery.
take care,
Rob

I went home with the same amount and hurt for days. It is as though they didn't believe it hurt. You can call but I don't think they will give you more. It will get better. I had liquid and yes it was gross but then I took tylenol pain liquid. It did about the same thing.
You can take the tylenol liquid for the cramps as well. I had lapband so not sure much difference. But it did help. Try not to walk around a lot.

Liquid Percoset - 10 ml dose. I have a very low tollerence for pain so I have been on it since they dismissed me from the hospital on 12/10. At first I was taking it every 5 hours the pain was so bad. It got better, but then they took out the staples, and I know everyone says you feel so much better after that, but for me it was the opposite. It was like I took a giant step back in my pain management. I still can't bend over much without severe pain in my lower abdomen. I just keep saying it has to get better every day. It is getting old though. I thought I'd be like 90-95% back to normal by now! UGH!
