Introducing myself
Ok so technically my surgery is in jan but this board is so awesome i wanted to introduce myself here...im ashley im 22 and i live in northeast ohio. I am having the TOGA procedure on jan 6, 2009 with my aunt lisa (ljackson803)... the toga is a new WLS method that is done transorally (through the mouth) and they go down with the toga instrument and staple the stomach. it is a cross between the lap band and rny...i would say its the best of both worlds....its still in the clinical trial phase but has been popular in mexico and belgium soon to be popular in the states :) i am reallly looking forward to it and i plan to follow a strict lc diet and exercise as much as possible... i have about 130 pounds to lose and plan to do so within the next 2 yrs. feel free to message me or add me to your list :)
My life is like McDonalds....I'm Lovin It
thanks everyone for the welcomes...i feel appreciated now :)...
my aunt and i looked up clinical trials online to try to find a way to get the rny for free and we saw this trial was coming up so we registered and were accepted to participate....
our first appointment was november 10th and got our date soon after...everything is going by really fast and the excitement and nerves are starting to kick in. we have had to undergo a lot of test and classes but it is all worth it....im really looking forward to this as is she... its nice to go through this with someone i am close to. so i will keep everyone updated with our progress

Congratulations on getting your date. I had to look it up to see what it was. You are going to be a part of something big and up and coming. thats so exciting. You're a trailblazer paving the way for others to follow behind you. i hope your excited about it because I'm excited for you. Congratulations.

i am very excited...there is a downside to it being a clinical trial though...only two out of every three people get the actual surgery...the one that doesnt get the actual surgery gets what they call the control procedure where they dont actually staple the stomach. No one knows if they got the actual procedure until after a yr and if after a yr you had the control procedure then you can get the toga for free...im hoping i get the actual procedure but i am going to do everything in my power to eat right so i can still lose the weight even if i didnt get the actual surgery.
Don't dig your grave with your own knife and fork.
