I just found this board...(I love Oh!) I'm having surgery on the 22nd, and I am a tad scared. I made peace with my decision quite awhile ago, but there are still the worries and concerns. I have read that crying is normal.. and I'm glad it is..because I can't believe I have any tears left! And over NOTHING...most of the time! lol
I have been in therapy for awhile to try and prepare for this the best I can, and she said that tears will be a big part of the whole process...before and after.
I wish all of us here the best of luck..and PLEASE feel free to PM me if you just want to chat. I think sometimes it's good to have someone to be scared with... Have a great night!

I am also having surgery on the 22nd.  I haven't given myself time to freak out.  At least not yet.

The pre-surgery liquid diet seems to be okay.  I think this weekend will be a bit harder.

Anyway, remember that the surgery will be a tool.  It will not do all the work for you.  As long as you are ready for that, you should be alright

We're in the same boat, lady.  I'm having my surgery on the 17th and I got a prescription for anxiety meds from the doc.  Let's just remember how much better life will be afterwards! woo-hoo!

I was told that the first few months are rough, and to just expect it.  And if it only last a few weeks..great for us!  Good luck on your surgery..please keep me updated!

I'm also on the 22nd and my emotional state is very EXCITED!  I just can wait to start this journey and get on track to a new, healthier life in which I won't be so limited in doing all the physical things I love to do.  If there's anything I'm not looking forward to, it's the pre-op prep.  I'm one of the lucky ones who wasn't given a pre-op liquid diet, except 2 days before (starting next Saturday) - clear liquids only - but that's mostly to clean the system, not to necessarily lose weight.  I'm afraid of being very hungry all weekend!!!  i'm also not looking forward to the stuff I'll need to drink to make me evacuate!

I had a lap gallbladder removal last year and was back to work in a week.  I'm expecting the surgery to be the same -- pretty much uneventful (except for the gas for a few days) and up and about the next day and back to work the following week.

We'll all do great!!!  Just keep thinking of how wonderful it will be to live a healthy life without carrying the equivalent of another person around on us all the time!

I have the excited feeling as well, but I am still a little nervous! I have been thinking about everything, and you know what? It takes time to get used to ANYTHING new. I have been forwarned about what may happen, and overall..I'm still Ok with this. And about being hungry all weekend...good luck, the liquid diet is no fun! Us that have it at Tallgrass are required to do it to help shrink our liver so the operation is a little safer, and to help get us used to the way we will be eating.

I know I'm a day late on responding to your post, but I, too, am freaking out.  I am having surgery on the 17th.  It really hit home today that my life is going to change forever.  I'm really excited, but have spent a lot of time crying, too.  My husband is trying to be supportive, but he can't possible understand like you and all the others out here do.  Good luck to you.  By the time you go in, I should be home (cross your fingers), so I'll be thinking of you!
