Home from Lap RNY on Dec. 8
Dear all -
Got home yesterday from my surgery on Monday the 8th. I've had no complications or real problems as of yet. I had excellent care with Dr. Balliro, as well as all the nurses, aids, respiratory folks, etc. I had my mom and best friend with me too - they were all great.
I did have some serious 'omg, what have I done to myself' thoughts, mostly when I couldn't sleep in the hospital and was staring out the window in the middle of the night. But I decided I just couldn't deal with it then. I just told myself that I had made an informed decision, and that I would think differently a little on down the line.
I've had some pain, but nothing intolerable. I was able to go to oral pain pills (and anti-nausea!!) late the second day. Mostly, the pain was just in changing positions, and once I was in a new position, things seemed to just be steady.
I was quite groggy, but never totally out of it. Had lots of calls from friends and family, which is just awesome!
Anyways, just wanted to send out a quick hello and update. And I wanted to thank all of you who sent me good wishes and prayers. You are the best!
Good luck to all!
Fay

So 12/8-ers, how goes things now. I was also lap-RNY on 12/8. I think I should be doing better, but I guess I can't complain. Still here, and no major complications to speak of. I just got my staples out on Friday and felt worse afterwards, which was a surprise. Haven't had a solid BM yet, and am still on liquid percoset for pain. I know i have a low tollerance for pain. I am eating a soft foods diet as per my doctor's instructions and have been since day 7.
I started at 240 and am at 225.5 now. Could be better, but not too bad.
So how are you guys. Feel free to contact me directly if you like too.
