Hello to everyone. I have been on my WLS journey for almost a year now. I have completed every imaginable test and completed a six month diet plan pre insurance prerequisites. I have BCBS of IL and been rejected two times now. In November I got "permanently laid off" I have elected continuing my medical coverage with COBRA. I have checked and BCBS will continue my same coverage under the COBRA program. Its pricey considering my unemployment is only 300/week. I'm currently having back pain and now severe leg and foot pain from a spinal injury (surgery) in 2004. My primary care doctor spoke to me yesterday and said due to declining health issues with my spine I need to move now on the surgery (especially if I wait until I get another job I will have to start the process all over again.) I need the sleeve but will have to entertain the idea of self pay or get the band and let the insurance company cover it. (I had a family member have severe consequences with RNY and will not consider that) Can you self payers give me some prices? I know my family prefers I stay in the states but I need to get all my information then make my decision. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY AQVICE FROM MY SLEEVESTER FRIENDS OUT THERE.

I have a friend of a friend who just had her sleeve done 11/24.  Her cost was 14k for her surgery.  I do not have much other information other than she lives in Washington State and that 14k cost did not cover all the tests she needed ahead of time.  Chest Xray, EKG, Upper GI... she had to pay all those costs as well.
