WOW!  Your poor SIL!   Do you have any idea what we all have to go through before we can even get a date?  How about you support your SIL!  Our Hospital OR is backed up for months!  If they told me 12/25 I would have said yes.  I spent Thanksgiving in the Hospital and guess what...life still went on!  :-)

Amen to what everyone's said... if they would have given me 12/25 I would have taken it... I had to wait 6 months for surgery, its not selfish for her to put her health first! My initial date was 12/26 and then I got bumped out to 12/30... my family was happy about that because of their own desires, not me.... its good you came to OH to get feedback... support your SIL, don't guilt her into changing her decision.

I agree with everyone else.We go through too much to get to this point of getting a date .You sil needs your support and love. There is no need for her to wait any longer.

Actually, I felt pretty good a week out of my surgery!!!  I don't blame her for not wanting to postpone but I can also understand your frustrations.  However, your sister-in-law needs support at this time...if she's set her mind to having surgery on that date, chances are, she probably won't change that.  I am going to have a tummy tuck (I had gastric bypass a year and a half ago) on December 29th...a few days after Christmas...a few days after my daughter's birthday and right before New Year's...I work for a school district and so for me, this date was more convenient...because I have some extra time off.   Regardless, it is her choice...and as a loved one, you have to try to support her the best way that you can.  Making the decision to have the surgery is a tough one.  I hardly told anyone because years before my surgery, I tried talking to people without much support at all...they ended up scaring me out of my decision...and I regret that because having this surgery was the greatest thing that I have ever done for myself.  I feel so much better physically...my knees dont hurt me anymore, my back doesn't hurt me anymore...my blood pressure is now at an EXCELLENT level!
