I'm also the day before (Dec. 22) for lap RNY. How are you guys feeling? I've been in total denial all along, until my last test (pre admission DVT). I was afraid if I admitted the date, something would go wrong and it would be postponed. I'm still afraid of that, but almost ready to admit that the 22nd will be THE DAY!!!
I'm very excited. I want to be healthy and have the ability to be active. I just came back from a cruise which was nice, but would have been so much better if I could have done more things that my weight prevented me from doing.
Where you from? I'm in NJ.

I have my pre-op stuff next Thursday (12/11). I have my daughter's college graduation and company holiday dinner being planned for next week and whenever I've asked whether I'll need to be following a special diet, the only answer I'm giving is not to worry and I'll get all the info on the 11th. Not sure if that means I won't be on a liquid diet that long, if at all. I'm not worried about the liquid diet post-op as the stomach will be way smaller, but I'm kinda afraid of being on one beforehand and being very hungry.
I've been researching for the past 1 1/2 years and finally made the decision to see a surgeon in June. I don't have any sick or vacation days left at work so knew that if I was going to do it, it would have to be the week between Xmas & New Years when the company is closed. I didn't get insurance info until late October because it was too early before then!
Like most people here, I've had some success on various other diets (WW was great for me), but put it all back on during a crisis. I went back on WW in May and lost 25 lbs so far, but it is way too slow. The philosophy is slow and steady wins the race. I do agree to a certain extent, except I have recently developed arthritis in my hip and am having a lot of trouble walking. I feel my legs can't handle the exertion of the weight they're carrying. I'm very fortunate not to have any other comorbities but I'm afraid my body is telling me that if I don't do something fast, I'm heading towards being very sick. At the rate I'm going with WW, it will take at least another 3 years! I just don't have that long.
I'm extremely excited right now because I want so badly to be healthy and be able to move like a normal person again. The nervousness hasn't set in, but I'm sure it will a few days before S-day.

I have my pre-op Dec 18 at the hospital. My surgeon started me on the pre-op diet Friday. It's basically high protein low carb. 4 protein shakes a day and very very limited food. VERY limited. I am surprised that it's not as hard as I thought it would be and I am not at all starving but my stomach is making funny noises today and it did have some pains earlier today. Wow- was that a hunger pain? I've never felt that....haha.
I needed to get my surgery done this year too because of insurance. It would cost me a ton of money next year....so thats why so close to Christmas. We don't really have family here in California as we are from Michigan. So- no big deal.
I am same as you- done weigh****ers like 6x, meridia, Jenny Craig, Nurtisystem, Alli (GROSS!). I need to lose 185 pounds to be at my ideal weight. I am pretty much in the smae situation as you with the pain and stress of the weight.
I am extemely excited and thrilled to be talking with you! Here is my email address:
