Surgery Dec. 30th, anyone else?

I finally got a date, Dec 30th.  Anyone else have the same date?  What are you doing to prepare?  Eating anything now that you know you won't be able to have after surgery?

Hi Beth!  My name is also Beth :)  My surgery date is 12-29-08.  So pretty close .  I had to rush to get surgery before the end of the year too because my insurance was changing in January.  So I am going to a lot of appointments so that in a way is getting me more prepared. I have been in the process since May but it seems like now that I have my date I am not as prepared as I thought.  I am soooo excited  aren't you?  I have also been trying samples of different proteins.  I know they say our tastes will "change" but I just want to check them out you know... I really love steak so I was considering going to eat "one last steak out" but I haven't yet.  I wish you the best on your journey!!

Hi other Beth, I read this after I added you to my fried list, so know I know your surgery date I asked you about!  LOL  I haven't tried any proteins yet.  I am going to one last friday night fish fry on Dec 12th!  LOL. I am not working that night, so hubby and I have a date that night!  I love fish fry, steak too!  I do baking for Christmas, last year I can enjoy that!  Glad you asked to be friends, we can compare notes and of course I love your name!

Hi Beth. My surgery is also Dec 30th!  I can not stop thinking about it.
For the past few weeks I have been eating crazy, thinking it maybe the last time I can eat this or that.  I seem to have slowed down a bit since tuesday when I got my date.  I want to start trying proteins now to see what I like or don't like.  What about you ?

Hi Cindy, I haven't tried any proteins yet.  There is one that sells at Wal-mart I have seen mentions, probably try that one.  Only place near me that I can buy that kind of stuff. Dec. 30th will be here before you know it huh?  I am so excited!

I'm 12/30/08 too! I've been sampling proteins and making sure to workout now so I will have a quick recovery. I bought SF jello, pudding, and popsicles so I'll have some things on hand. I really like the Syntrax protein so I might order more of that for post-op.

I am also having surgery on Dec. 30 what a way to bring in the new year as a new person. Since I have gotten the date it seems like I have eaten everything in site afraid it will be the last food I eat. But it is going to have to change starting Tues. I have to go on a liquid diet for 4 weeks. Then I will be on blood thinners shots for 2 weeks after the surgery is anyone else having to have the shots.  I am so excited  but also scarred at the same time.

Hi Teddybear,  Had troube getting on the internet, so didn't see your post until now.  You must be on your liquid diet now huh?  Why do you have to be on it so long?  I thought most were on it for only two weeks.  I don't have to do any liquid diet at all.  How are you doing so far?  I am sure four weeks will seem like four years, but think of the weight you will lose even before surgery!   I wish you great success!  Send me a friend request if you would like to keep in contact and compare notes on our surgeries.  What part of Illinios are you in. I am in west central Wisconsin, but used to live in Milwaukee years ago.

Teddybear, I read your post through my e-mail and when I went to reply the OH page opened up and I typed away.  The problem was that I am on my daughter's computer and the OH page opened up under her login, so the reply from Jessica, in Black River Falls, WI is really  me, Pegleg63,(Beth)!  LOL

I also Finally got my Date of Dec 30th.  I am all approved by my insurance company and ready to go.  i have been trying all the protein shakes on the list they gave me and find Unjury to be the best tasting, well tolerated and has 20 grams of protein. Good luck to everyone having surgery on the same day.  Hope to hear from all of you soon.
