MEDIC ALERT
Hello December friends, I'm a November post op with a suggestion for those having a Bypass. I don't know if the same holds true for banders.
Right before my surgery, I attended a WLS support group and they were talking about the need for us to wear Medic Alert bracelets.
They mentioned on woman who can been in a car accident and the medical responce team used an NG tube on her which ended up killing her.
Due to our new changed anatomy, a regular NG tube would blow through our pouches.
Now, the chances of this happening are rare, but it's something to think about.
If you do decided to get a bracelet, it should read something like this
GASTRIC BYPASS
NO BLIND NG TUBE
This will allow EMS to use another method to accomplish the same thing, but safely for us.
