December 2 surgery date
Hello everyone!
How is everyone doing? Sorry to hear about the set back Yoly. Hope every thing works out with your job Frank. I am going tomorrow for my preop appointment. They tell me it will take about 3 hours. I know I have put on weight and I am sure that will not go over too well. I have been trying to get some of my favorite foods in before I start my liquid diet next Tuesday. I am excited. I have been having tiny panic attacks worrying about the things I won't be able to have anymore. Its so silly. I am worrying about not being able to drink pop! I DON'T EVEN DRINK POP!!! I think I am loosing my mind lol.

Hey there!
I haven't gotten to the worrying about what I won't be able to have yet, right now I am at the stage where I am afraid of my kids bringing in their friends and getting me sick before the surgery date....lol I know that would surely mean no surgery for me on the 2nd...lol and my oldest daughter is ALWAYS getting a cold etc....so I don't know what to do about that. I'm not sure if I'm over reacting or not but I feel you on the panic attacks Michelle! LOL

Hey Michelle!
I go on the 19th for my final appointment and pre-admission stuff. I have to meet with the dietician, have a chest xray, cbc, echo, and two other tests I can't even begin to figure out. (he put something like greek on it...lol) They sent me a pre-admission paper and all it says is that the two weeks before surgery for me to stay on a strict 1500 calorie low fat diet and then the day before surgery just liquids so that's all I know right now. I have heard that a lot of doctors put you on strong antibiotics the two weeks before the surgery, I don't know if mine does it or not. I guess time will tell...LOL
I am going to take a journal with me to the hospital on the 2nd and write down a lot of what I am feeling etc. I'll be pretty messed up on the pain meds so it should be interesting reading it after...LOL Well, just 3 weeks to go and it does seem to be going a little faster now. I'm just hoping that things keep going smoothly for all of us from here on out.

Hi Candy,
I just got home from my pre op appointment. I had my ekg, I have to have labs drawn with in the two weeks before my surgery. I have to do that darn 2 week liquid diet, and they do mean liquid. Nothing but liquids! Its going to be a hard two weeks for me lol. I got my prescriptions for my pain meds, heprin, labs etc. I am all set. I also got my instructions for my "bowel prep" the day before surgery. That should be fun lol. I have to be at the hospital at 5am and my surgery is scheduled for 7am. December 2nd will be here before we know it.

LOL....the bowel prep sounds REALLY fun....(not)
I'm sure that when I go to mine they will probably do pretty much the same things. I figured they would do the bowel prep too so I went ahead and reserved a hotel room in Louisville KY where I am having the surgery for the day before. It's a little over a two hour drive and I didn't really like the idea of having to stop for bathroom breaks every 10 minutes or so....lol
The hotel I am going to is only about 4 blocks from the hospital so that's good. They were supposed to have a lower rate for anyone who was a patient and they gave me a hard time about it. The people at the guest services office at the hospital were great about it. They actuall called the owner of the hotel and got him to give me a rate of $45 a night and had his personal assistant make the reservation for me. I was shocked...lol Well, it sure is getting closer and I am really glad it will be time soon. I am going to take a camera with me and get some pics to put on here after the surgery. Keep in touch.

I had my pre-op visit today and I'm all set, kinda. I have to get some updated labs, they have to be current within 30 days. I also have to get 5 iron infusions via IV. I start my clear liquid diet 10 days out. This was all within reason but they he threw me a curve ball. I have to shave from nipples to knees minus the genitals. This wasn't in the paperwork!!!!
My job situation has changed again. My ex-boss found me an admin position with the same group I was to do all the traveling with. I will be working from home 95% of the time and the only travel will be local except a 3 day trip to North Carolina next week for training. I can't see much of a downside to this.

Frank glad to hear that your job situation is going to work out for you. Working from home 95% of the time, sounds pretty good to me. The shaving you have to do does not sound to good! My doctor gave me a prescription for some kind of cleansing cloths that I have to use. The first one will be after I take a shower the night before my surgery and one to use the morning of surgery. They give you a diagram of where to start and finish. I am not looking forward to the bowel prep thing, but oh well its all worth it. I am going to enjoy my last weekend of food and drink. I am meeting a friend and do some xmas shopping and spend the night in a hotel. We do it every year. We shop, eat and drink! Its a little earlier this year than normal, but it would be no fun to go and not be able to have a few ****tails. Its a great way for us to get together and get away from the hubby and kids for a few hours. She lives in Wisconsin so I don't get to see her much. I am very excited to get out and enjoy myself for a little while. Have a great weekend!
