December 2 surgery date
Hi Candy and Michelle,
My name is Yoly and I am having RNY on Dec 1st. I would love to keep in touch with you guys and share experiences,.. I am excited but very nervous also. Have you guys done all your evaluations yet? I have 3 more appts this week, can't wait to finish all the test!!

Hi Yoly,
I have one more appointment on the 19th of Nov. for my final tests before surgery, but other than those, (I think it's an ekg and chest x-ray) I think that I am done. I know that Michelle said that she has to be on a liquid diet for two weeks before her surgery, do you also? If so I'll start to wonder what my surgeon is doing....LOL
I am really excited about this also, It seems like October is never going to end, and I bet November is going to be worse. I would like to keep in touch with you too, it will be great to have people who are going through the same process at the same time as you. Talk to ya soon.

I have done all my tests. I do have to have a physical at my regular doctors office, but thats it. I have done all the labs, xrays, psych etc. Candy you are lucky you don't have to do the liquid diet! From what I have read, not all the surgeons require it. Mine does it to shrink the liver, I guess it makes the surgery easier. I would rather do without it. Maybe only a week, but two oh man thats going to be a bit hard. I agree about the time slowing down! My last appt before surgery is November 12th. I am not sure how I am going to get off work yet for the appt.
Its great that there are 3 of us to share experiences! Hopefully time will go by fast for all three of us!

Hey there luvin,
I was concerned about the same thing, I was afraid of going through this and not having anyone who was going through the process at the same time. To me it's a comfort knowing there are others who understand what you are going through and who will be supportive to each other because of it. I hope we can keep in contact through this process.

hi guys...I just got my call for my final appointment on November 19th, it looks like I am spending the day there, lol I have my physical and history then I need to get my clearance from cardio and finally I meet with the anesthesiologist and then I guess I may be free to go....I just hope my boss doesn't get upset with me about taking so much time off, at least they got it all scheduled for 1 day
...now I only need to get a sitter for the kids...eeks all day appointments are hard to find sitters for but I am sure I will manage. I guess it wouldnt be bad if the hospital wasn't an hour away well anyways I guess I am in the blind about the 2 weeks of being on a liquid diet I am sure I will find out on the 19th. It looks like most people have to do it and of course it is the week of Thanksgiving...well hope all is well with everyone hope to talk to you soon.

Yes Candy, my doctor said I have to go on Optifast on Nov 20th, GREAT just in time for Thanksgiving... LOL.. so I will be on liquids for two weeks as well as Michelle, also to shrink the liver and abdomen walls. I asked if that included alcohol, he didn't laugh!! hahah he it was worth a shot..
Seriously, I am just excited to get these test over with, I have been missing alot of time from work and don't want to get the big bosses upset, so far they are cool, but you never know!! I have the consult with the gastro doc tomorrow and my stress test thursday. Then I have to go back next week for clearance from the cardio and hopefully that will be it.
Glad to see where are getting a nice group of December folks to chat with!!
Looking forward to going thru this journey with my new friends, happy, healthy and safely..

It's about 37 deg. here in Southern Indiana right now, so it's a little chilly.
I am really glad that there are so many others to chat with that are on or around the same day, it will help alot for us to have people to talk to.
I know that all of us will do just fine with all of our procedures and even though we will have to limit our participation in the holidays it will all be worth it in the end.
To change your icon, when you are here at the message board there is a box on the left, click on user settings and it will take you to the page where you can change your icon/pic.
