I am scheduled for lapband on the 19th. I'm excited and nervous. Some of the posts are a little scary. I'm glad you guys are so close to my date. Maybe we can keep each other company. Good luck to you both. Glad we're not alone.

Would love some advice on how to go about this process to obtain the surgery and handle the steps properly with my insurance group. So far have we have spoken to my personal care physician and he has applied for hubby to go first. I am sure there will be a denial so a appeal will be in order.

Hi Hey if you can drink the protein shake cause they taste really really bad, you might wanna try 1 called "muscle milk lite". Its only 20% protein and does the job just as well if not better the a regular shake, and it doesnt make my diabetes or my sugar numbers go up. Since the surgery 12-4 i have only had to take 1 insulin shot,so the diabetes is basicly gone! 2 weeks out and i'm feeling great.....clothes are looser already yippie it will get better! GOOD LUCK Joe G

Thank you for your words of encouragement! I am so happy you are on the losers' bench along with me. We had our surgeries in the same week. That is wonderful. I will think of you as we travel together to the healthier side of life. I was not using the pain medication during the day because of the precaution on the label about breathing problems. I want to keep my lungs clear. I will walk outdoors on nice days and use my treadmill otherwise. I will keep the walking and the water flowing for best results. I am finding it difficult to get all the water in that I need, 64 oz. I drink maybe 30 oz of water and a cup of hot decaf tea or coffee up until 9:00 at night. I don't want to be up all night going to the bathroom. Tomorrow I have an appt with my PCP in Sacramento so he can look at my incisions and modify any meds I'm taking. I am off low dose aspirin until I have a basal cell lesion removed from my face early Wednesday morning. This is done out-patient with local anesthesia. Then I see no more doctors until Jan 4th in SSF when Dr. Le releases me to return to work on the 7th. I am no longer taking diabetic medication as my numbers are within normal range before and after meals. I knew that my medications would decrease after the band was installed and I was happy about the thought of that. I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas! Hugs and kisses, Iris
