We're the same day, and I'm a bit scared, too...I'm praying for you

Hey there! I have 6 days to go, as my surgery is on the 28th. I can understand the Murphy's Law thing all to well. I will be around if you want to PM me and talk.

Wow, you are able to eat solids? Honey, I have news for you. It is your head....It has just not gotten the message yet. There were nerves that have not been reconnected yet. Please make sure to follow your Dr.s plan, as this can cause damage to your pouch. If you are not to be on solids yet, heed the advice as spicy foods can also cause ulcers. The staple line of your pouch is not healed and is very vulnerable to being aggravated. Yes, I know I have not yet had surgery, but all the research I have done and all the posts that I have read have come down to what I have just told you. I am not trying to be mean, or flame you in any way. I just want you to be careful.

Well, it is only 5 days until I am reborn. I am so excited and ready, but also at the same time, I am finally getting scared to death. I know I have no reason to be, other than just typical nervousness. Unfortunatly everything seems to be going wrong this past few days, and I really don't think it is going to get any better between now and the 27th. Just please keep me in your prayers. I really need the support.

I'm freaking out because my mind is telling me that i want to eat the same old foods even though my stomache may seem full. Unfortunately I ate a small chocalate covered donut just to see what would happen and I didn't even get sick. So then I ate 2 bites of chicken enchalada. still didn't get sick. I'm wondering did this surgery work for me? is everything still based on willpower? I dont know what to think about anything right now. Has anyone gone through any similar feelings.

well, I can tell you there is an answer and it will eventually go away. You are now in a ketosis state. This means that your body is burning the stored up fat. The only thing that can be done about the "death breath" is brush you teeth often (your dentist will love you) and use SF breath mints or some of those listeren strips. As far as the internal odor, there is a product called Devrom and I have seen some postings in the past on other boards that this stuff works.

Topic: RE: Surgery on Sat. 12/22 and I cheated already on my 2 week Pre-Op diet
Hi, I was never put on a liquid protein diet. I was told to try to eat as healthy as possible and not to eat carb free, but to watch the carbs. Mostly I ate meat (not beef or pork) and lots of salads and vegi's. The doc said since he was not operating in my lower intestine it was not necessary for all this liquid protein stuff. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago and the doc told me that my surgery was one of the easiest he has seen in a long time because my tissue was so tender from the diet I was on proir to the surgery. So do fuss on the small stuff, just try to control the sugar, carbonated drinks, and the carbs. But of course I am not a doc and so I can only tell you what was told to me. Good luck! Jeannie

Hello everyone, I am 3 weeks postop and have a terrible taste and smell from my mouth. I also noticed that when I go to the bathroom, it smells like my breath(youck). Has anyone else experienced this?? Please, please let me know. Jeannie

I too am on this 2 week liver shrinking "diet", but with the holidays around the corner...I have cheated too! All of these goody baskets keep showing up at work filled with cookies and carbs! It's so hard! I have very little willpower right now, but I am trying hard. I guess what I am saying is that I am in the same boat I know it's hard, and let's not beat ourselves up for little slip ups. Everything I have read and heard states that we have little to worry about. Good luck with your surgery and cheers to sticking with our diet as best we can! Heather C RNY 12/31/07
