I had mine 12/18. I'm not eating "regular" food yet. I'm still on semi-soft foods like yogert, cottage cheese, lunch meat and some soft chicken like from soup. You might want to check with your doctor or dietitian to find out what and how much you should be having.
Good Luck

make sure you're getting your water and protein. that's the most important thing. also make sure you're exercising...even if its just walking. That's what I do and I'm down 23 LBS. since 12/18. Also, you might try keeping track of every thing you "eat" and be sure to be honest with yourself. But like posted earlier, everyone loses differently, so just hang in there and you'll be fine.
Good Luck

There are days that I too am very tired. But I've noticed that if I exercise its not so bad. Right now I'm only walking about a mile and a half, but its a nice little walk. Just make sure you're getting your water, take your vits. and definately make sure you're getting enough sleep. I had my surgery 12/18 and before I could stay up til midnight without problems now if I'm not in bed by 10:30-11:00 I'm dragging. Just hang in there and keep on track and you'll see your energy coming back.
Good Luck,

I'm with you. I tire-out quickly and occasionally I have a day where I can barely get out of bed.
I'm doing fairly well getting my water down, so I don't think it's a lack of hydration.
Just the healing process I guess.

After taking my vitamins and daily medications some days I feel exhausted and other days I feel great and full of energy. I read where this can yo-yo for up to 6 months post surgery, so Hang in there! I too had the lap band. My surgeon recommends no caffeine for me yet, as caffeine can dehydrate you if you are not drinking enough (64oz at least) water. If you become dehydrated you can end up back in the hospital. I, too drink coffee, but again, try to ensure I am also getting enough water into my system. When drinking pop, besides the caffeine, it also has carbonation which can cause air bubbles and a lot of discomfort. I have only tried a couple pops and let the lid loose so it became flat, thus then the carbonation is out of it and then you just need to watch the caffeine and the sugar. Even diet pops have sugar in them, so be cautious! I am not for sure what type of surgery you had or how long it has been. If you're really concerned speak to your surgeon or a nutritionist. Good-Luck and have patience!
Topic: RE: Normal appetite again?????? Is this normal????
Hi Michelle,
I went back to my surgeon Jan. 17th and explained what I had done and he gave me my first fill. (Just 1cc) He told me if I felt nauseated at all to come right back and he would take this out. No, I am doing fine with this, other than having to watch my portions. He gave me the approval to eat anything I want, but be aware of portion control and see him again in a month. I had lost 17 lbs. from my surgery in Dec. and he said I was right on schedule. Not losing too much too fast, but losing. He said to expect 1-2 lbs of weight loss per week. I also got the approval to go back to work full time without any restrictions on Jan. 31st. Since I have been eating regular food I have had more diarrhea, and I believe I have not been waiting long enough after eating before having liquids, so I am trying to be more aware of this. My surgeon said to eat 3 meals at about 1/2 cup total per meal and 3 snacks per day. Even with our winter and all the snow, I am walking more all the time. I'm really excited about losing and the challenging of a variety of ways to move for exercise to help to continue to lose. I wish you well Michelle and let me know how you are doing and what your surgeon recommends for you. Remember with lap band we all lose at different rates, due to genetics, body structure and how well we are following our surgeons advice. The only way we can fail is if our band fails us, otherwise we may lose slowly, but the most important thing is if we are losing any amount, then that is Good! Good-Luck with your success!

I never had a chance to talk to anyone but the surgeon. It all happend really fast. My best example is I was able to eat a 6" subway sandwhich and in about 30 minutes I ate 1/3 of the second half. I wanted to cry! I felt so ashamed. I think my impression of the Lap Band was I would be able to eat like 3" of the sandwhich and be full for 3-4 hours. I feel embarrased when my co worker ask "How much this week", and I have to say nothing lost....I was able to start eating soft foods 2 weeks in and now I eat what I want. But I still don't know how to eat. I still don't know how to plan these high protein meals that the entire family can enjoy. And I am with you! I don't want to wait for the results either. I have been over weight (morbidly) for the past 8 almost 9 years! I don't drin****il about 30 minutes after the meal. That is hard for me to because I so thirsty when I eat...any advise?

What surgery did you have? I had the Lap Band and I can drink coffee??? Other than that I take my vitamins and feel pretty good. I hope you feel better!

I'm just trying to get the protein and water. I walk a lot too. Hang in there, because we all lose at different rates.

That is funny! I thought it was an id number to my band for some reason. DUH? How would we know! Atleast I had mine in my wallet...I figured if I needed cpr or something they might want my number!!! LOL LOL
I am going to look now also. I am happy we found each other.
What did they explain to you about this band?
I am going to try and log on now, I tried it at work and I had problems.
Write back! How have you been doing? Can you eat anything?
Do you feel anything different since the fill? I dont get full for the last 2 weeks like I used to, it is scaring me! I got my info packet from my doctor. Guess everyone works differently. SOme girl said there are only about 25-35 doctors that have started using this in the US. My email is [email protected]
I am going to the website now, talk to you soon
