Topic: RE: Anyone frustrated with slow weight loss???
Are you getting enough protein? what about exercise? are you snacking? these are all things to consider when at a weight stall. also, think about what you're eating...is it too much?
Good Luck

Topic: RE: Alcohol?????
I think the important thing to remember is that alcohol has 4 x's the effect on us who have has wls than on someone who hasn't. Use caution...maybe try a drink at home to make sure you don't dump! that would be horrid at such an event!
Good Luck!

I can eat anything. Sadly I don't dump.... at least if I do, I don't know it yet! Left over chicken doesn't sit well with me, but when it's fresh and juicy it's fine... everything else, including salad, is fine.
Topic: Anyone frustrated with slow weight loss???
I had my RNY on Dec 17.... I've only lost 37 lbs and 22 of those were in the first 2 weeks.... I am doing everything "right" and am just so frustrated.... I see people on the main board complaining about slow weight loss, and I am losing MUCH slower than they are.... I lost 57lbs in 3 months pre op on Atkins without any difficulty and no exercise! It just melted off... but, now, I'm just STUCK... I have lost maybe 2 or 3 lbs in the past few weeks... I could just cry! I hate to be negative, it's not my nature by any means... I was so looking forward to this surgery and have done exactly what I'm supposed to do (my only deficit is somedays I don't get in 64oz of fluid)... I am feeling so lost... I was on FIRE pre op, but now I'm not even WARM!!!! ACK!!!!! Any thoughts or ideas???
Topic: RE: Didnt lose any weight this week
Hi Cerena:
I can well understand how down you would feel if you did not lose weight in the past 7 days. But this does happen. I am not happy either when I don't lose weight and the scale hits a stall. But I also know that I was not doing right. And by this I mean. I was thinking that if I did not eat what I was suppose to eat and just sticking to liquids the weight would come off fast. Well, it did not. I learned that now that I am exerciseing I must take in all the protein food that I can and to take my protein drink and the body will lose weight and inches. The more you starve a body the less it is to respond with weight lose as they told me because the body see's this as if it is starving and it will not lose. I learned this and I have been eating what I am suppose to eat and I am losing about 10 pounds a month now. I am down 45 pounds in just 2 1/2 months but I am losing it at a slower pace now. After all muscle weighs. But I am happy and my cloths are geting big.
Topic: RE: Caloric intake?
They told me the same about not counting. I get about 400-600 per day. I just can't eat anymore than that...I also walk about 4 miles a day.
Topic: RE: Caloric intake?
This is something I was wondering myself and called my nutritionist and she said not to count calories just worry about protein! I actually started counting them for a couple days and I average about 500-600 a day but I work out for an hour 5 times a week and probably burn off 200 or so!
Topic: Alcohol?????
Has anyone tried an alcoholic beverages? Just wondering when or if we can have wine or anything else alcoholic. I have a banquet to go to in April and would love to have just one drink to sip on! I know that red wine has alot of sugar but I love white wine, especially Pinot and wasn't sure if there is alot of sugar in that!
Topic: RE: what CAN you eat?
Hi Jenni:
I can eat just about everything I've tried. So far I've been able to eat Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, and American. The difference is that I eat much less than I used to. I kept hearing that I wouldn't be able to eat so many different foods that I love such as steak, ground beef, rice, etc. That has not been the case. I've only discovered three items that are problematic for me. That being said, it really all depends on how something is prepared.
When your doctor says that you are able to eat meat, I suggest putting it in a pressure cooker so that it is moist and easier to digest.

Hey, you're my surgery sister! At my last appointment (6 week post-op) I was cleared for all foods. I can tolerate just about everything so far. Of course, the normal rules still apply. Too much fat or sugar is out of the question, other than that no problems.
