Topic: How does one maintain?
I have never maintained in my life, so this is very new to me.
I am feeling a bit frustrated about not "getting it" with eating right.  Yes, the weight came off and I hit my personal goal of what I want to weigh (losing 175 pounds), then the holiday hit... and I gained some back.  I seem to do pretty good on eating and exercising during the week but then... the weekend comes and it is a free-for-all and I am eating a lot of the things I shouldn't.  Is it any wonder then why I am not losing those extra holiday pounds?  I am frustrated with myself.
So, how does this maintaining work?  How many calories do you eat?  I know it is different for each person but I guess I am curious as to what is an average "norm" out there.
I haven't changed my exercise since I hit my goal weight, mainly because of my bad "free weekends".  I just wonder what my problem is and it terrifies me to regain it all because I didn't "get" that right way of eating.
I still follow the rules of protein first, no water with or an hour after meals.  I try and get 100 grams of protein a day and drink 4 litres of water.  I probably eat about a cup-size of food for a meal.
What is the norm?
Please respond.

Topic: Join us for 2010

Hi December 07 surgery folks,

I'm inviting you to a little group to help those (yes, including myself) who have gained 10 or more pounds beyond that lowest weight. We are calling it the "Drop 10 for 10 Challenge". You can easily join this group by going to www.obesityhelp.com/group/Drop10410. I'm hoping that with your help we can generate a little excitement and enthusiasm for getting back on track. We will have a monthly weighin, but it will only be pounds off since the start of the new 2010 decade. Your participation is only what you want to make it. I'm pumped up and ready to get back on track for 2010.

There are no hard and fast rules for joining, but you really should be at least 10 pounds above your lowest post-surgery weight and interested in getting things back in line.

Let's get this new decade off to a great start.

Topic: Ronnie(RNY) is 2 today!!! Happy BDAY!!

Yes 2 years ago today...I became a LOSER!!!!! Time has gone by soooooo quickly!
There have been many learning experiences; a few dumping expisodes and a couple of "stuck" moments (the most infamous...a breadstick that was stuck for 62 hours). But 170 lbs later and I have to say Ronnie IS my best friend.

Things I learned early on...this is a lifestyle change....it's NOT a diet.
~Chicken was NOT my friend for the entire first year. Only 6 months ago did I attempt to eat it again and even now it's still hit and miss whether Ronnie(pouch) will like it.
~The one rule I don't break...I NEVER drink with my meals.
~I continue to come to OH every single day....I still learn stuff from my OH sistas.

I take a few minutes(still) every single day to Thank Cigna and Dr. Francis Teng for my second chance at life.

I am very thankful that gone are the size 26 clothes and now my closet is full of size 10.

I still have not reached my goal and don't know if I EVER will. That does not mean I'm an RNY failure. In my mind ....my goal may not be realistic. Yes I weighed 130 lbs once BUT I was 21 yo....I'm now 50

50 and FABULOUS and LOVING my RNY!!!!!

I want to thank all of my OH family that have given me a TON of support over the past 2 years. You guys ROCK!!!!!!

I'm hoping and praying that RONNIE does NOT go through the TERRIBLE TWOs !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello to anyone who may occasionally come by to view the remains of this once-proud board on OH... I can hear my words echoing around this empty mausoleum and it's damn creepy.

Okay, I'm being a smartass, but I *am* wondering if we band of brothers who started our journeys all about the same time two years ago still want to stay connected.

Are you still out there in OH land? Or have you gone off to different support pastures? Maybe people fallen away from support systems entirely?

Is anyone else interested in bringing discussion back to Dec '07?

Will I even get an 'Amen' as the coffin lid closes?

Mike
