Former O.C. resident now living in Chicago....Have you checked any of the hospitals in Anahiem, Orange, Fullerton, Santa Ana? You might also x-post this to the California Board as well.
Topic: Support Groups
I live in Buena Park. Does anyone know of a support group closer than Riverside?
Oh yea, preferably on the weekend? If close enough I would go in the evening.
The closest Saturday group for me is in Riverside and the week night ones are in Fountain Valley. Both groups are about an hour drive for me and I would rather be home with my family.
I am doing OK on my own (surgery on Dec. 12, '07 and 65 lbs. lost) but still would like to talk to others in the same place as I am.
Thank you for any help you can give.
Topic: RE: So how is everyone doing?
Today is my 7 month surgiversary. I am down 103 pounds since surgery. Sometimes the number I am at does not register in the brain. It seems to be just a number and not how much I weigh now. I sometimes still see the chubby here and there. I still feel far from my goal weight, so it is amazing to hear people getting close to their goal at only 7 months out, which is awesome. I am so glad I had the RNY. I am worried about pain in joints and what meds I can take for them since I had the RNY. Overall, I am very grateful for where I am right now.

WOW!!! You go girl!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am 6.5 months out and have lost 81lbs post op... I lost over 60 pre op, so I am down a total of 150lbs since Sept 2007, and I feel TERRIFIC! I have had NO complications, never even vomitted! Life is GRAND!!!!!!
I just posted some new pictures on my profile, go check out what minus 150lbs looks like! It feels AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Topic: RE: Six Months out... How is the weight loss?
Well, I am down 75lbs and am feeling pretty darned good. I have just started to be able to eat pretty much everything but honestly - sometimes I still drink water w/my food so it doesn't get 'stuck'.
My hair had been falling out butt that stopped over the last couple of months - and I am back to my regular crazy huge mop of hair.
I did have to have a stricture taken care of in the beginning but I am good again - only had to have the procedure once.
Way to go everyone - It is so very nice to hear how you all are doing. It is a weird feeling of affinity isn't it??

Topic: So how is everyone doing?
I am almost 7 mos out now and I am almost at my goal weight! I had my surgery December 10th so another week and it will be 7mos. I have lost a total of 114lbs since surgery and another 15 prior to surgery. So I am pretty happy so far but would love to lose another 20lbs and stay there. How is everyone feeling? I am doing well, labs are all good and have alot of energy.
Topic: RE: Wondering how all the December 2007 people are doing?
I have lost 75 lb - gone from a 24 to a size 16/14 depending on top or bottom.
I am having a hard time because I am having some chronic pain and it is causing me to really reach out to food - I feel the strong pull towards my addiction and also a strong pull toward any other addiction that would like to take food's place. I am anxious about the addiction part.
On the other hand - physically I can't believe the difference in how good I feel. It truly is like night and day. I have started an exercise program and am loving/hating it. I am also delving into more exercise that I enjoy - dance related stuff. It it pretty unappealing for a 35 year old flabby pants but it is what I like and I am willing to make an ass of myself if it means I can find something I can do for the rest of my life.
My breasts are very small for my size - and I don't think I have much skin at all that doesn't have stretch marks on it. My upper thighs and my upper arms are serious problem areas and either I will have to learn how to dress it or I am going to have to have surgery to repair the damage there. My breasts ...... well.....it is really not good.
I will definitely have surgery for my breasts at some point.
Ok...well...now you know all! I hope everyone is finding what they were looking for and let's keep doing this - creating a community of people who are experiencing the same thing and finding support in each other.

Topic: RE: UPDATE--6 Months
Congratulations Genisis and everyone else.... I think my RNY ROCKS! I still haven't thrown up once... I have to be really careful not to eat too much, because I can eat anything I want (even the toppings and a couple of bites of pizza crust)... I definately don't exercise enough, but am walking and doing the ZUMBA dance DVD... I am different person than I was 148lbs ago. I have lost 79lbs since surgery, and had lost 69lbs in the 3 months pre op. I have gone from a 5XL to a L in scrubs at work... I still have to wear a 16 in pants with buttons and zippers (lots of tummy skin- gross!), otherwise I wear a 14.... And of as today, I am no longer in the 200lb club... I am finally in Onederland!!! Considering that less than 9 months ago I was 347lbs, I could not be happier!!!!!!!!!
Topic: RE: UPDATE--6 Months
I know it is hard to believe it is 6 months already. I am down 72 lbs and I am now at the wieght on my DL.
I went from a 22W to a 14 in pants, 1X to a L top. I am able to shop in the misses department and sometimes the jrs. I am now able to buy cute bras and panties which is nice for a change.
I work out 5-6 days a week. I am up to running 2 miles. I am also taking belly dancing lessons. I can tolerate everything and anything, so I am having to be careful and listen to when I am full. I am very careful with sugar, so I do not know if I dum*****t. I had no issues up until about two weeks ago when I had pain in my upper right abdomen. I spent a week in the hospital, as they were trying to figure out what was wrong. They believe it was scar tissue.
I am happy that I did this, but I am still waiting for my sex drive to return.
