im having my surgery on december 19th. i have sooooo much to do before hand to make sure that my kids have a good christmas since i wont be able to do any shopping after the 19th. at least i will get to spend winter break with my kids since i will be home too! im so excited and scared at the same time! good luck to all of us december folk!

My date is December 19th. Not a great time, because of grandchildren and Christmas, but great time due to work schedule. Now that it is really going to happen I am really scared and wondering what have I gotten myself into. Then I pause and take a deep breath and how that it will be great ending. I have prayed about this and researched and know that it is right for me, I think! lol

Hi Paula, Thanks for responding. So far, I have not heard anything really negative from anyone about pain. I've read a lot of stuff about tolerances to the new way of eating, but not really anything about pain. I'm having my surgery done on a Thursday and I'm hoping to be back to work on Monday. I make maps on a computer all day, so if I am able to drive and stay awake, I might as well go to work. I have a friend who just had it done yesterday, so she should be able to give me some insite about discomfort. Have a great weekend, Brian

First, congratulations on getting your date, Jessica! I think it is very normal to have mixed emotions when getting so close to the surgery date. It is a huge step and it's OK to be scared. You are not dumb at all to feel the way you are feeling... I think the reason we look to WLS is because all the other things we've tried have failed. But to me WLS seems to be the most likely thing to help me succeed. And I'll bet it will help you succeed in getting that weight off for good, too!! I can't say from experience (yet!) but from all that I've heard, as long as you follow your dr's "plan" you will be successful. It may not be an easy plan to follow, but WLS is the tool that will help us stick to the plan! By the way, I'm scheduled for surgery on 12/6 so we'll be going through many things together. Please feel free to send me a PM or add me as a friend. Just remember you are doing something for you that will help you be healthy and able to do more things with your 2 little boys! I am so VERY excited. I am having my surgery on the 11th of December at Evans Army Hospital on Ft. Carson. I cant wait to start losing the weight. Now i have to get everything together so it will be ready for when i get home. Has anyone else had their surgery at Evans? I have Dr. Imlay as my surgeon and so far have heard nothing but FABULOUS things about him. Any insights would be appreciated...
