Congratulations!! I'm glad those 5 lbs. didn't delay your surgery...that would have been a big bummer... I'll be a couple weeks ahead of you - my surgery is on 12/6. What a great start to the new year for all of us!! Best wishes to you... ~Nancy~

Topic: 12/20/2007....I have a date!
I cant belive im saying this! It hasnt really sunk in yet, but i have a date! My date is 12/20/07. As you may have known from my previous posts, i found out through my chest x ray that i had a mediastinal mass. I met with 2 pulmunologists *****fared me to a thoracic surgeon. The thoracic surgeon examined my films and determined that since the mass didn't seem cancerous, it was much safer for me to loose the weight first, and then undergo the surgery for removal of the mass. The mass will be monitored periodically thorugh CT scanns until i loose enough weight that the removal surgery will be safer. This journey thus far has been VERY emotional, but i know its worth it. I am really looking forward to a healtheir happier me! Thanks to god who has made all things possible even if it wasnt on my time! Thanks OH Family for being there for me through it all. Pre ops- if you have some time, check out my blog beacuse ive learned alot along the way ...maybe you can pick up a thing or 2 that will make your process easier. Post ops- if you have time, check out my blog ... i'd love to have your input on things

Topic: RE: Liquid Diets.....
I started my liquid diet on Monday, sinceI have to do this for 2 weeks. I have a few options of what I can do but the first one is to have a total of 5 Slim Fast Optimas or High Protein Shakes a day, giving about 50 grams of Protein and lower carbohydrates. The other is 6 of the Carnation Instant Breakfast No Sugar Added mixed with skim or 1% milk. It really hasn't been as hard as I thought, of course the face that I'm traveling for work and am not at home may be helpful. I've had a hard time drinking all 5 of te slim fast a day, 4 of them keep me pretty satisfied in addition to drinking water. They say it's to help shrink the liver and to get you accustomed to what your diet will be like for after the surgery. I'm jus thoping I can keep it up until surgery, once I get home it will be harder i know!! Best wishes to you and LUCKY YOU for not having to do the whole bowel prep and liquid diet.

You will be just fine. I know it is scary but anything that we aren't familiar with is. Praying is a great stress reliever. Best of Luck and keep us posted on how you are doing !
