HI David. Just wanted to invite you to read my story. It really depends on your doctor. I was able to return to work after 1 week. I was on liquids -- chicken broth and won ton soup and popsicles, next mushies, -- couldn't wait for mashed potatoes! and then slowly start eating reg. food again. --small portions.
Some people experience neck and shoulder pain for a few days which is gas pain. No driving (while you are on pain med.) which is usually a week or heavy lifting until your first follow up appointment.

Hey. I had the Lap band. I invite you to read my story. I know that it is different for everyone but it was the best thing for me! I have friends that have had the Lap band as well as the Gastric Bypass. I am down to 165 lbs. My goal is 130 lbs and I am almost there. My surgery was April of this year. Everyone says that I don't need to lose anymore but I just want to get down to my goal and at that point I will exercise to maintain it. Before my surgery, I would lose maybe 20 lbs but then eventually gain back 25 lbs. There is no way I could have lost this amount on my own without my "tool". I believe the majority loses about 100 lbs and just knowing that if I gain a few I will never go back to that. Just keep reading and decide what is best for you. Good Luck.

Just wanted to wish you all Good Luck. Your surgery date is on my birthday but now it will be your birthday also!!! I had my surgery in April and am looking forward to my 1 year anniversary date. Congratulations. 2morrow is your big day!!!

Hello! I am so excited for you! I had my surgery in April. It was the best thing for my life! I have no regrets-- only that I did not know about it sooner. Good LUck and take care. I am 47 and live in Fl. I want to be able to wear shorts and cute tops without everyone staring at me like I am a beached whale.LOL
It's great your Mom is having the surgery so close to when you are. You can go through it together. What a journey we are about to take.
