Andrew . . . I'm assuming if you are this close to surgery, you've had to be on a pre-op diet in order to be ready for the surgery . . . and if this is something you want DESPERATELY enough . . . afterwards will be no harder than the last couple weeks have been. I think I've got the worst will power in the world . . . but I wanted this bad enough to quit smoking cold turkey and quit the cafine and carbonation the same day . . . and if I've done all that .. .I'm not going to mess it up now that the surgery is over (12-3). If you want this, it will work for you. There is support like crazy on these sites . . . and we're all here to cheer you on! You CAN do this! Best of luck! Chris

Topic: Confused
Scheduled for surgery Monday and to be honest I keep wondering if I`m doing the right thing. I guess I`m just concerned since I have struggled with obesity most of my adult life and have not been successfull with dieting (keeping the weight off). Granted I will have the assistance of the band but if I could not be faithfull to long term dieting in the past, how can I be certain that I will be faithfull to the required regimene six months or a year down the road?. If anyone has any words f wisdom I would really like to hear from you.

Topic: RE: Surgery is Dec 12 Need advice on the liquid diet.
Hi Sue - just found your post with your Dec 12th date which is mine too. I don't have any advice because I am only required to be on liquids the day before surgery, but I did want to wish you luck on your surgery. I think there are about 4 of us having surgery that day so it would be great to hear how everyone is doing postop.

I can't believe it!! Hi Tammi and Maureen! You've got another surgery sister! I'm having my RNY on December 17th as well!! Yea for US!!! My surgery is at Omega Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana. I'm a conversion from Lap Band so I already know one side of the fence. It's time to hop over to another!!! I look forward to hearing from both of you and my prayers are with you two on our "REBIRTHDAY"

Topic: :jump: conversion to bypass with a DEC. Date!
Hello December REBIRTHS! I have been on this board for about 2 years now. My journey started back on '05 when I was banded with the lap band. I have failed miserably with my band and even had complications. My band slipped last May. Slippage is so rare, but I would be the fortunate one to have it happen to me! Anyway after almost 2 years of a weightloss I could have done without the band, I have finally been approved for gastric bypass!!! I am floored. I'm soooo sooo excited!!! I know any type of weightloss surgery is very hard work. I've already experienced one side already so the hard work part is true. I'm really motivated now to do the work! My bypass date is December 17th!!! Yea!!!! I was approved in 2 days with my insurance company. I've never heard of such a thing. It took we 3 weeks to get approved with my band, which is still good time for 2 years ago. God is sooo soo good for giving me yet another chance to fight and win the battle of the bulge. I am loooking for an angel as well and for any new friends I can arm myself with to begin this new journey and new life!! Congrats to all December surgeries!!!

OK- I am finally starting to feel a bit human. That was actually harder than I thought it would be. I hope you women weren't feeling as bad as I was- the gas, the nausea.... ick. I'm still struggling to get my fluids in and vitamins seem impossible right now. Let me know how you are feeling... Julia

Topic: RE: surgery eve!!!!!!!!!
Hi, Kristen - It's surgery eve for me, too!! I'm sorry you didn't find the site sooner, too. It's a wonderful place for information, support, etc. I know you'll log on often after surgery... I've had lots of different emotions the last couple weeks, but now that it's down to the final few hours, I'm excited - just like you are!! If you want, keep in touch and we can compare notes after surgery! My thoughts and prayers will be with you tomorrow... Nancy
